Re: Calipari or McDermott
McD is doing as well as possible for what he has. However, it is just that he has failed in holding onto players and then he must start over every year which gets us nowhere. We could have had a new coach and seen little difference in the results in their first year. We are stuck in neutral. Greg is a very long term fix. He builds slowly.
When Cal shows up, things get better for the school. He is what you call a short term fix.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

ISU fans are no different than the general public. 75% wants sleazy! LOL.

BTW - this poll is unrealistic; doesn't have to be one, or the other.

Re: Calipari or McDermott
If the NCAA isn't going to punish coaches for their connections to Shady AAU people or people like World Wide Wes, then is it really cheating? I mean if the name of the game in today's college basketball is to get connected with certain people is it cheating or is just taking advantage of every opportunity. If it's going to be tolerated then shouldn't we be mad that our coach isn't willing to do all he can to get recruits and make our team a winner. That is what he is paid to do after all. He is making a lot of money on the hopes that he will win bball games and make money for the school. If he isn't doing all that he can to do that then shouldn't we be mad at him and not the people like Calipari? Im not saying it is right just asking.

Re: Calipari or McDermott
People who say McDermott doesnt cheat are basically just excusing the fact that he has been aweful here. Unless you are saying that Johnny Orr, Tim Floyd, and Larry all had to cheat to be successful in less than 5 years.

I say that McDermott doesn't cheat. I also think he's been pretty darn awful here. Might want to clarify your point a little bit.

“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...” – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register -

The problem is coaches are not getting punished for much of what they are doing, but the programs are. The big issue is it's not just the things that are shady but okay under the rules. It's that they eventually find things they are doing that are clearly against the rules. Do we want Johnny O'Scumbag to skate out of here and our program to take the hit for whatever he did?
I may be naive, but I think there are still some relatively clean coaches out there who can be successful. I guess I am not willing to sell my soul to the devil for the whole world, I would rather get success in my little part of it the hard way.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

Well, if my choice is to compete for final fours and conference titles for 4 or 5 years, and then suffer some penalties for a few years or to just suck for the entire 10 years, would rather win a little first.

You should be more ashamed for voting for a slime ball cheater. Calipari has two Final Fours with two different schools and both had to be vacated for CHEATING!!! What does that say about you?
