Re: Anyone hear anything on new asst.
I don't care whether they can recruit. Bring in someone who instills some toughness and pride, someone who brings an edge to the team. Honestly, someone with a mean streak, but also a guy who the players know is there for them. I'm thinking someone with a similar style to Frank Martin, who, I believe, worked as an assistant to Huggins. I know, just a dream...

Re: Anyone hear anything on new asst.
We need someone with roots to the east coast, specifically New York. It would also be nice to get someone on the AAU circuit.

It is the NCAA way of trying to clean up recruiting, at least the ugly recruiting with coaches and handlers getting jobs. Can we still hire a recruits Dad?

I say don't hire one and put the salary in a CD and gain interest for one year. Then see where the chips fall.

But most importantly, they bring back a little history of Iowa State basketball that many of us loved. I highly doubt that either are even an option, but that's who I'd love to see brought in. Anyone else heard anything or have any ideas? That is the single dumbest idea I've ever read on this board!

Recruiting talent has not been the problem, keeping them has!

The only reason Frank Martin is successful is because he has an assistant coach named Dalonte Hill that gets paid very well ($420,000) to recruit. I'll take dalonte Hill as an assistant over Martin or Huggy as a head coach.

Re: Anyone hear anything on new asst.
Hey, do not sell Frank Martin short. He has an electric personality. Did you see his halftime speech that drove his team to overcome the one point halftime deficit last night?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Anyone hear anything on new asst.
Martin takes a lot of crap. His appearance is somewhat sleazy, used car salesman exterior, however, I now believe the guy can coach as well. His players WANT to fight for him. KSU has a good set up right now with Martin and Hill and now an elite 8 berth. They will be a power for a while.

Re: Anyone hear anything on new asst.
What about Leonard Perry. He was talked about early. He was with LE during the Fizer/Tinsley era and worked with the guards (IE Nurse, Horton, Tinsley, etc..) before taking the Head Coaching job in Idaho. He was fired at Idaho and has spent some time in the NBA. He would be a good hire IMO.

I hear there is this guy who sells satellite dishes in the Ames area who has some D1 coaching experience... -

Anyone who has seen Frank during timeouts knows what the real speech was:
