Re: Brackins now a second round pick?
Brackins needs a much better inside game. He's going to get pushed around by bigger guys and that fade away 10 footer isn't going to cut it. He really needs to develop some moves to get closer shots.
I'd really be surprised if Gilstrap is drafted with his health questions. And he hasn't had enough playing time to show he has the skills for the next level.

He really lacks the ability to put the ball on the floor and take it to the rim, making is own plays. I do find that a bit concerning about his NBA draft status.
BUT he is really athletic, still fairly young, and has a lot of potential. The more I read on some of these post the more I feel I am back in 7th grade talking to a bunch of kids who think they can play basketball, until you coach or play D-1 basketball, please tell me reilly - WHAT would you do? This is not high school ball, I don't care how bad you are!

Re: Brackins now a second round pick?
Has Brackins signed an agent yet? This is a very slim chance but he'd almost be better off not signing one and leaving coming back to school an option. At this point it can't hurt him anymore than it already has, his peak value was not coming back this past season and now I can't see how coming back for 1 more year and putting up some monster numbers wouldn't get him back in the 1st round.
I realize I have a better chance at winning the Powerball than this happening probably but I wonder if he's even left it a very small possibility of doing if he doesn't like what he is hearing when he goes through his draft workouts.

Re: Brackins now a second round pick?
My take - Brackins game isn't all that dissimilar from Fizer, except Fizer was a lot better. And we all know the issues he had in trying to adjust his game to the NBA. Even if Brackins is drafted, it'll be a struggle.

Re: Brackins now a second round pick?
Fizer blowing out his knee made Fizer struggle in the NBA. Plus the gun thing didn't help buy him time to recover. Prior to the knee injury Fizer was a 6th man candidate and ready to jump in the starting 5 permanently for the Bulls. Not necessarily struggling.

Fizer liked to play physical around the basket and could still find ways to score being double teamed, Brackins game more fade away and taking jump shots away from the basket. How are they similar again???

Not intending to be argumentative, but I couldn't help verifying some of your stats, as they just didn't seem right. I didn't look at the non-conf schedule, but here is how the Big XII broke down as far as our rebounding is concerned.
TU 40 ISU 36 NU 33 ISU 41 TT 38 ISU 39
KU 42 ISU 31 OU 25 ISU 30 CU 24 ISU 49
BA 36 ISU 26 KSt37 ISU 38
MU 42 ISU 40
KU 47 ISU 36 OSU29 ISU 34
Tam39 ISU 37 NU 27 ISU 35 MU 36 ISU 38 CU 21 ISU 35 KSt37 ISU 39
TU 44 ISU 28
I know, a lot of space for a little info, but it looks to me like we outrebounded conf opponents in 10 out of 17 games. KU, Baylor and the last game w/ Texas we got our clocks cleaned, but as for the rest, we were pretty competitive. Just my two pennies.

Re: Brackins now a second round pick?
I still contend total rebounds don't tell the whole story. Shots taken by each team need to be taken into account. If one team takes 60 shots, and the other team takes 48, the team that takes 48 should win on the boards because they had 12 more shots to rebound defensively, which is where the majority of boards come from.

I can't argue about that. I just didn't agree that we were "hammered on the boards more often than not."
