The future - ChrisW, KG? . . .
Blah. That's how I'm feeling these days about the ISU men's basketball team and its future.
But, I'm old enough to understand that how my brain neurons are flowing along/through synapses and creating certain emotions (is my mental imagery anywhere close to accurate ;-) might not be a reflection of the real world . . . just my interior world.
So, I'd like to have comments from those of you who observe the Cyclone MBB program up close. Is my blahness a reasonably true reflection of the real world, or is it just me?
Are you willing to state what you believe the major developments in the program will be in the next two years? A year from now, will we be looking for a new coach?
Although it means nothing, I'm the steadfast sort (like so many others here) who will back a coach nearly to the hilt (there does come a time. . . .).
Bottomline: Is your beer glass half-full, or half-empty?

Bottomline: Is your beer glass half-full, or half-empty? Pretty close to empty after the Texas loss, since then...not full, but more optimistic. IMO, we'll be ready to rock if we get two bigs a week and a half from now.

Bottomline: Is your beer glass half-full, or half-empty? My beer glass is half empty right now but that doesn't mean I've drank it all yet.
It will be an uphill battle for this staff to win from here on out. That is just stating the obvious. The only hope everybody has is that next year's roster has some awesome chemistry and that the staff really nails a couple of JUCO recruits this spring. I really do believe that DeMarcus Phillips will do wonders for this basketball team. But he's not going to be able to do it alone. He needs some help. Again, it is going to be tough. But the Big 12 should be a little bit down and there is still a lot of time between now and next season.

I think we are better next year. Not sure if that is due to a better team or the B12 being worse though.

There is absolutely no reason for the glass to be anything but half empty.

The right answer is, nobody really knows what to expect...Totally different feel in the gym, can't tell you if it's good or bad.

We have three open...I expect us to take another guard with it.

If I've got it right, the vibes coming from the program right now defy a clear, clean interpretation. The source of my blahness, I guess, is four straight losing seasons and just one signature win (at KSU). It's the lack of competitiveness. The question, then, for me, is, if not over the hump yet, then when (and how?).
Are there instances out there where big-time (as opposed to mid-major) basketball programs have been desultory for a number of years under the same staff but have then taken a big step upward? I suppose so, but I can't imagine such improvements are anything but rare. And, if they're rare, should we expect that to happen at ISU?
Thanks again.

Who do you think are the most likely recruits that we add this spring?

Thanks again. Definitely not blah...Just a different feel, hard to explain. Just in comparison to the the team before Ham, Gilstrap, and Brackins left. I think Buck still works out with the team until the end of the semester(was not there when I was).
