Greg Gard - the next ISU coach?
Makes more sense each passing day as the current regime slowly fades away:
he comes highly recommended from Bo Ryan
he gets a chance to coach at a major D1 school/conference
we can get him on the cheap (anyone that grew up in Cobb, WI will gladly take the job for $500k a year.)

he was offered 300 by Dayton a couple of years ago. it will take 500 to get him.

Can we afford him since we need to save coin for the future buyout?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Greg Gard - the next ISU coach?
I haven't allowed myself to think too much about potential candidates if/when the time comes for a change, but Gard is one guy who I would hope gets an interview.
He's very highly regarded by Ryan, a man that JP has a lot of respect for. And if Gard's bio is any indication, he has a lot of the same qualities that Rhoads used to win JP over during his lengthy interview, namely a strict attention to detail and the ability to communicate it. Combine all this with JP's Wisconsin connections, and it would seem likely that the guy would get a look.
"Greg is one of the most thorough and organized coaches I have ever been around," Ryan said. "His attention to detail and his ability to communicate that to the student-athletes separates him from other coaches."
Gard is also their recruiting coordinator and does a lot of the scouting and game prep. The most obvious reservation I would have would be his playing style. Chances are it would reflect Ryan's, but I suppose you never know what you might get when a long-time assistant gets his chance to make all the calls.

Re: Greg Gard - the next ISU coach?
I kind of blame Bo Ryan for ISU's current MBB program. When Pollard was at UW, he saw what a succesful coach at a smaller in-state school can do when given the chance.
Complete, total and utter speculation, but that's what I've always thought about the GMAC hire and why I kind of blame Bo, great coach that he is.
I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.
