Ben Mills - Big man recruit?
Is this anyone that we are/should look at given current holes in lineup? Now listed at 7 1, he is definitely project in that if he doesn't gain 50 lbs he would get killed, but you can't teach height. Averaged 17 & 11 in senior year. Lots of mid & low major offers, no BCS schools although Minnesota had interest at one time. Not many big kids on the market this time of year...do you take a chance?
Boise State has released two men's basketball recruits from their commitments and lifted the recruiting ban on Ben Mills, a 7-footer from Hartland, Wis., who asked out of his commitment when former Bronco coach Greg Graham was fired.
Junior college guard Chris Kupets and junior college forward Bryn Prinsloo have been granted their releases from the program, giving new coach Leon Rice a total of three available scholarships to supplement next season's roster.
Rice already has a commitment from McLennan Community College point guard Tre' Nichols, who is expected to sign a letter of intent to play for Boise State this week. The late-signing period opens Wednesday.
By lifting the recruiting ban on Mills, it allows the Arrowhead High senior to talk to other schools. Boise State spokesman Max Corbet said Mills has not been given a complete release like Kupets and Prinsloo.
Rice wasn't available for comment Monday.

Oh and by they way I know that it is impossible to have a thread about BB that doesn't quickly become a fight about coaching, but hey why not keep trying. "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject" - Winston Churchill -
Re: Ben Mills - Big man recruit?
I would like to see us go after Cody Larsen, the PF Iowa released from his letter of intent last week. Pretty highly thought of recruit and from nearby in the Midwest, that's a rare combination at this time of the game.

Class of 2010 (Prospects - ben - mills)
NAME POS HT WT SCHOOL RANK GRADE STATUS SCHOOL NOTES
Ben Mills C 7'1" 215 Arrowhead H.S. (WI) C #67 85 Signed Boise State
Mills runs the floor well for his size and establishes early post position. Ben is a highly skilled post with the ability to pass and step up to the high post or short corner and knock down the jump shot. In the post, Ben likes to score the basketball...
Class of 2010 (Prospects - cody - larson)
NAME POS HT WT SCHOOL RANK GRADE STATUS SCHOOL NOTES
Cody Larson PF 6'8" 225 Roosevelt H.S. (SD) PF #29 92 Undeclared View Schools
Cody has sneaky athleticism and quickness, which he uses to surprise opposing bigs who do not initially respect him. Larson, a lefty, has good strength and finishes around the basket with a good amount of effectiveness. He also has a nice lefty jump hook over the right shoulder when...

Either of them sounds good to me. I especially like Mills with us losing Hamilton to LSU, a 7+ footer in the Big XII is always a good thing.

Re: Ben Mills - Big man recruit?
New BSU coach, who was hired from Gonzaga, really wanted to keep in committed to Boise. I don't pretend to know which big men will develop into a player, but he may be one of the more intriguing bigs still available less than 48 hrs from signing day that is in a geography we have recruited well with this staff
