Keep Coach McDermott!
Let's face the facts, we have a highly sought after coach in Greg McDermott. He will be our coach next year, and with success, for several years to come. To suggest we change coaches now flies in the face of logic.
-recruiting is done for the year
-after next season, a huge recruiting class will be available to recruit
-financial considerations point toward the need to keep Coach
-time to support the Coach and look forward to next year.

Re: Keep Coach McDermott!
I don't understand why anyone would support Greg McDermott anymore. Doesn't make any sense to me.
After next season recruiting isn't going to pick up. Kids aren't dumb, they understand the situation here. We can't get commits this spring from anybody and rightfully so.

Like Miller and Deace said.... The longer we keep this trainwreck the worse it will be for the next guy.

I did not realize that April 12 is "Opposite Day". I guess you learn something new every day.

Re: Keep Coach McDermott!
im a coach mac supporter, kind of on the edge though, mainly because i dont care who the coach is, i will support the team. the one thing i am afraid of is that everyone is just so negative about next year that nobody will show up to support the team and the hilton atmosphere will be gone.

I think you are pretty dead-on in your prediction. I think that hiring a new coach, at the least, puts butts in the seats. People are willing to show up and support a new coach that is working hard, getting his kids to play hard, and trying to enstill a new mindset in a team. People aren't going to spend their money to show up and watch the product of a failed system of a soon-to-be fired coach.

These kids have had smoke blown up their buts for a couple of years. Face it - I don't know how you can show up on Monday every week at a job where you ask "Wonder what's gonna happen today?"

And with more success, Wayne Morgan and Dan McCarney might be coaching here. They didnt have enough success, and GMac probably wont either with the players hes set to put out there next year.

I'll hear you out here..
-recruiting is done for the year
and how are we doing on that... seems we're losing a lot and not really having much success on the recruiting trail at all, certainly not at attaining BCS-level players at this point.
-after next season, a huge recruiting class will be available to recruit
How is this a reason to keep GMac? The next coach would have this too, would he not?
-financial considerations point toward the need to keep Coach
Do they. Sure, theres the buyout... but the loss of tickets, donations, concessions, and merchandise could *easily* add up to the 450k per year (500k minus GMac's 50k annual raise) in his buyout.
-time to support the Coach and look forward to next year.
If its time for that, theres easily time to get behind another coach for next year.

Funniest thing about this post, the whole country knows what is going on in Ames with McDermott, yes, but watching all the Syracuse games and reading the NY Times this is not the publicity you want. Both media outlets (especially ESPN) bashed ISU and Coach McDermott. But I am with you keep him as coach and save the money for upgrades to Jack Trice.
