Re: Who has writen a letter or email to Pollard?
Dated 3/15/10
Thank you for the email. I appreciate your taking the time to write me and for your continued support of our program. One of the best parts of my jobs is interacting with our fans, both in person and by email and mail. I make it a practice to respond to almost all inquiries and I have no plans to change that. Personally that is what I think sets us apart from most athletics departments. I know from my peers that they do not even read their emails from fans - they have someone do that for them. That will never be the case for our department - our fans need to know exactly what we are thinking.
I understand the concern and frustration with men's basketball, especially the roster turnover. We certainly have had an inordinate amount of turnover. However, I also see a lot of turnover around the country so we are not the only ones experiencing it - we just think we are because it is our program. I saw a piece yesterday that there are currently 19 players starting on the 65 NCAA tournament teams this coming weekend that transferred to their current program from another Division I program.
The bottom line is Coach McDermott has to ultimately win or we will have to make a change. However, change for the sake of change usually does not work out very well. Just ask Iowa about their last three coaching changes (Davis, Alford and now apparently Lickliter). In my opinion, when I take into account all the factors (and there are many), making a change in our basketball program at this point is not the best decision for the long term good of our basketball program and our department.
Thanks for your continued support. We will find a way to get basketball healthy, one way or the other.

Here's some perspective on the direction the two programs have taken. Both coaches arrived at the same time: ISU 2005-06 Wayne Morgan 16-14 2006-07 Greg McDermott 15-16 2007-08 Greg McDermott 14-18 2008-09 Greg McDermott 15-17 2009-10 Greg McDermott 15-17 Greg McDermott overall 59-68 Mizzou 2005-06 Quinn Snyder 12-16 2006-07 Mike Anderson 18-12 2007-08 Mike Anderson 16-16 (would Pollard have fired Anderson for a season like this?) 2008-09 Mike Anderson 31-7 2009-10 Mike Anderson 23-11
Mike Anderson overall 88-46

Re: Who has writen a letter or email to Pollard?
I'd like to see people put their donation levels out there because you know that is the first thing he is going to look at before/if he responds to you. I wonder what the percentage of people here that complain 24/7 are members of the NCC and also hold MBB season tickets.

Is he talking about Pollard or McD?

I sent him a message going into the Big 12 tourney in support or his decision at the time but now I'm not so sure.

Translation:
1. McDermott will be fired after next season if he doesn't produce some wins.
2. There are not a lot of good coaching candidates available.
3. It costs too much to fire him now.

I actually think JP's response was pretty good. I still think the amount of transfers is excessive. Not just because it is our team. But everything else I agree with.

I don't like Jamie talking about other programs and espeically Iowa. Stay on the focus of ISU in responses Jamie.

Fixed it for him.
JP, I love you, but sometimes you make me laugh. Are you not the hotshot new AD that changed about every coach we had except Fennelly and CJL?
