Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
With the Iowa Energy's season over and GMac needing help on the recruiting trail, how soon will we announce the new Assistant Coach??

Re: Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
The Energy season isn't over. I believe if they lose tonight it is. If they win they are on to the Championship season and potentially another week.

Re: Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
Energy are still playing there tonto. If they lose tonight they are done though. Otherwise they won't be done until next Mon at the earliest.

The Energy's season isn't over yet. They play tonight. If they win they go on to the championship series I beleive and if they lose they are done. I know this b/c I took my nephew to the game Sunday and they were handing out free tickets afterwards for tonights game.
BTW Stinson had 30 pts, 10 reb, and 7 assists on Sunday. Amazing how he hasn't even gotten a sniff to be called up.

Thanks & sorry.
I read the headlines of the DSM paper & it said the Energy lost. Thought there season was over and some good news might be coming.
As for Stinson, does he still have 1 year of College ball left doesn't he ? -

Re: Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
I have a question about the Energy coach coming here, and if this has been talked about Im sorry in advance.
Why would a guy give up a head coach job in the NBDL for what could be 1 yr here at ISU? He seems pretty set where he is now. IS there alot more money as an assistant coach here than a the head coach there? Has he been promised Gmac will get a couple more years? To me it just doesnt make sense to give up the job security he has to come to this mess for just 1 year

Maybe he thinks he will get a shot to take over as head coach? Who knows.

That said, NN and GMac have a pretty long history together. I think there is more than meets the eye, though.

Re: Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
Maybe assistant money is better than HC at Iowa Energy?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

If he wants to be a head coach in the NBA or D1 maybe he realized that D1 is more likely, thus needing some college experience. Pay is probably better and he more than likely has a long standing previous relationship with Mac. I'm not sure on the pay exactly, but the top assistnat likely makes quite a bit more than an NBDL head coach.
As far as the 1 year risk, that's a good question. Maybe he was guaranteed 2 more years from Mac. But either way Nurse's contract would more than likely be for 2 years and give him a safety net if something happens next year.
You also have to consider the confidence that every coach has in themselves. I'm sure Nurse is the same way. He thinks he can come in and get it turned around to meet enough goals for Mac to be back in 2011-2012.
I personally am surprised we were able to get him and think it's a great hire. When I first heard his name I thought it was a big time stretch to get him to Ames. Let's see how it works out.

Re: Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
I for one hope that if he gets a HC job its not here. He has done a nice job with the Energy but I dont want him to learn to be a HC at the D1 level here. I cant believe one season here would be a glowing mark on his resume. I have a feeling we are going to be stuck with Gmac for a few more years

If he is not announced by next month, it may not matter. Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Asst. Coach Announcement Soon??
Has he been an assistant coach some place before?
