Re: Any chance with Brust or Larson?
Brust is kid with a lot of class and had a excellent HS career. Excellent shooter, great hops, and a team player. One quesiton in my mind is ability to play Big 12 defense. He attended a high school in the same conference as the one my children attend, and my son started against him in high school. While he was impressed with Brust, he said that he could beat him off the dribble and get to the basket. But my son is on 5'11 and Brust had the ability to come from behind and block the shot, something he won't be able to do in college. He is only about 6'1. As such, I would think he better be lighting quick to play defense, and while he has a good first step when the ball is in his hands, his reaction time on defense may hold him back.
He is also a kid who transferred HS after they did not let him play varsity his freshmen year. Would you be setting yourself up for another transfer if he does not get playing time his first year? If you like Cully Payne at Iowa, you might like Brust (although Payne was more able to try and take over a game in HS than Brust did), then you might like Brust.
