Do you really think he can predict the future? He is giving out information based on current information given. Even if/when he is wrong, the information given is better than having no information at all.

Do we have more open scholarships than any of the other BCS schools? Just wondering.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

Still don't understand why we aren't after Beas Hamga---we recruited him two years ago (played on the same high school team as Lucca). He is a 7 footer that played his freshman year at UNLV, announced a transfer to Valpo, and ended up at a community college in Texas.

Jake Kreuser may be a possibility

Translation... Nearly every kid we have targeted has turned us down. Right now I have no idea who we are going after or if they are any good. I certainly don't want to tell you this information because it will make my employer look even worse and only prove further the inadequate job he has done. While I am at it I will spin these failures and blame it on the all powerful posters on CF. My employer is a very powerful man.... at some point every CF'er has spoken poorly of him and this is how we will exact our revenge. He will have the last laugh......My employer is..... Safi wasn't ripping you or jumping to conclusions. Just stating what turned this board sour. It was losing. We are all sick of losing.

    Re: Who's left?

ISU's MBB program is pretty crappy and we all know that but if anyone actually believes the message boards hurt recruiting more than the team losing for 4 straight years and GMAC's players fleeing this disaster, well that is the clueless person.

I would take KG's info with a grain of salt. Its probably based in truth but coated with BS, like the Clyburn wanted to redshirt info. That was ridiculous from the get go. ISU isn't in the position to back off any recruits right now.

Agreed. I won't apologize for not trusting a source who gets his only satisfaction from telling fans that are sick of losing with GMAC to "Get comfortable because he will be here a long, long time."

I would agree message board crap doesn't hurt more than losing. That's pretty obvious. If anyone's claiming that, which I really haven't seen, then yeah, they're idiots.

My OPINION is that it negative posting certainly doesn't help. Sometimes I'll post something pretty dam negative about Greg or the program and after I post it, I'll think "I hope a good recruit or his parents don't read what I just typed...maybe I should edit it or remove it just in case."

You have to admit, it can't HELP can it? Being negative on a message board has one of 2 effects on a recruit:

    1) None
    2) It's negatively impacts the kids view of ISU basketball.

Those are the only 2 options. It can't help. There's nothing positive about it. Even if you truly believe the impact is None, doesn't that chance that the impact might be negative, no matter how ridiculous that sounds, make you think twice a little bit about what you post? I know it does for me.

    Re: Who's left?

Personally, it doesn't bother me we don't know who Greg and his staff are targeting now because if a team is scrambling to get players at this point then the players the team is going after are most likely they aren't going to be that good or other teams are staying away from them for either grade or character issues.
I think at this point the best we can hope for is for the staff to find a kid that is under the radar that might be able to work hard and develop into a solid role player in a couple of years.

exactly, and KG represented that it was a done deal and we should all circle the wagons because things were 'working out as planned'.

I agree that it probably doesn't help when only three people on the whole site are positive about the state of the MBB program. In saying that, I believe it is unrealistic to believe that people are going to stop talking about MBB. ISU fans care too much to just stop talking about MBB. The problem is right now not one single positive thing has happened since we beat KSU and before that the last positive thing was probably Brackins coming back.

Its up to GMAC and the team to start providing some momentum and we have seen GMAC fail constantly for four years in his quest to do that.

    Exactly.

I don't want to go back through the threads, but what has KG been correct about? What "insider" information has he really provided? All he does is chastise fans that criticize the coaching staff, and rubs it in the faces of people who do not support GMac as the coach that unfortunately he will be the coach here next year, and for a long time. For some odd reason, apparently he thinks his doing this is good for ISU basketball. Apparently in his mind, it would be a good thing if the fans that are ****** off would just go away. As long as GMac is safe, what does it matter what the fans want, right?

The problem with this program is the constant losing. Not just of games, but of players.

It is just sad to me to see what this program has become. What was once a more than competitive program has become a joke. It is just sad that there actually has to be people who supposedly are close to GMac that have to come on here to defend him. WTF? I'm sorry, but I cannot imagine that happening in the Orr, Floyd, LE, or even Morgan eras. I can't even imagine it happening for Nance, Trickey, John, or Anderson. To me it is just embarrassing that the Head Coach at ISU has to have his minions defending his *** on here. Obviously, he and his staff are aware of KG's posts. Is this really what we expect from a head coach?

Now, it is a message board's fault that he can't get recruits. Right....... Can't be the fact that he has not won in four years. Or that he can't keep players. Or that they leave for odd reasons, and even lie about the reasons they are leaving. Or that most of the times, his teams do not look like they have a clue as to what they are supposed to be doing on the floor. Or that his staff leaves him. Nope, can't be any of those things. We lose recruits to TCU (with a former ISU assistant) and Hawaii because of a message board. If anyone actually believes this.......

At this point, I don't know why anyone would be too concerned with what recruits ISU gets. This coaching staff has not shown they can win with talent, or retain talent anyway. So, honestly, what difference does it make who is recruited?

Realize that all this is is KG trying to find another reason to blame for the lack of success next year. Of course now that there will be no information about recruits on this board apparently, we know that GMac is going to be able to go out and sign some 4 and 5 star recruits for next year still, right? Right.

It really gets confusing with the information that is/was provided. First ISU is really hot on somebody, top of their list, then when they don't sign, ISU backed off, or the recruit wanted some special conditions, or whatever......but then wait......ISU is not getting the recruits because of this message board. So which is it? Is ISU backing off, are they asking for conditions.......or wait......we really did want them, but they got turned off by the message board? Another thing that bothered me is if the recruits are asking for conditions (like wanting to red-shirt supposedly) wouldn't the staff know that before offering the scholarship? If not, why not?

If this message board is such a factor with recruiting and players, then I ask again...why did we not get Harrison Barnes? Or why do we not get some of the other recruits that this board is high on? Or if we do get recruits, then why don't they stay? Is that the message board's fault too? Gee, I don't remember any of the players who have left mentioning the fans or message boards as a reason, does anyone?

Next year, with the empty seats in Hilton, the lack of fan support will be blamed for GMac's failure. Hard to recruit when players come in and the empty seats out-number the fans, don't you know?

It is also sad that if you criticize the coaching staff, you are called a bad fan, or not a fan of ISU at all. All of you supporters......tell us one thing that is good about this program......JUST ONE legitimate thing! I challenge you to do that. Please, nothing that is just based upon your opinion or hope.....but one factually GOOD thing that you can point to.

Whatever happens next year, it won't be GMac's fault. We all know that. He does no wrong.

    Very good points.

As I alluded to earlier, today for some reason I am taking a positive approach :)

I look at the Nurse hire as one positive since the K-State game. For some reason, this has resurrected my hope a little.
