Good news. Sounds like he should be a good recruiter!

I'm not saying I'm against the hire, I'm actually quite happy about it. All I am saying is that there is no way that one aspect of the hire was not the fact that he is beloved by a fan base who is in large part becoming frustrated by the MBB program. Bringing back a legend is not a bad thing at all, but I think alot of this was done to bring good publicity to a program who has had nothing but bad publicity for the better part of 8 months.

I can't get on-board with that. GMac hired him to help the basketball program and through his ties to the youth basketball programs in MI he's like an AAU coach without the baggage. It doesn't hurt he's a homer, but that was not the first requirement on the job posting.
Jeff has repeatedly approached ISU about coaching opportunities, ISU didn't go begging old alums to hop on the sinking ship.
We have a unique coaching staff and the change should bring positive change.

Re: Jeff Grayer New Assistant (Official)
Overall, I'm happy with the hire for the simple fact that I will take a coaching unknown over a known coaching disaster.

Re: Jeff Grayer New Assistant (Official)
For the preception of the state of the program, I really think these two last hires have been extremely good. Grayer is going to bring all types of recruiting from the Michigan Area. I am excited. I realize that two assistants aren't going to guarantee us an NCAA bid, but a definite step in the right direction...

I really hope it works out. Id love it for McD to be able to turn it around.
Unfortunately, i just dont think he can. As we've seen the last few weeks, a lot of damage done by the first 4 years to recruiting. Doesnt matter how good the assistants are if we can't get big 12 talent.
