I disagree. Pretty much any hire would kill recruiting this year. In the future, though, if you are a guy with NBA talent wouldn't you be attracted to playing for a guy who has extensive experience preparing guys for pro ball. I would think I would be.
You would commit to a guy that you didn't know would be here next year?

And either way, killing recruiting for a year has less long term implications than rushing into hiring a coach permenantly.
I don't think this is that bad a time to get a coach at all. There is no pressure next year, or even the year after that. And fans will show up.
We can attract a coach with an impressive resume - even in late April. Jamie just has to aim big.
What's the worst that can happen? All that Tom Izzo could even say is "no thanks."
I agree with this. IMO we are going to be hiring either a Mid major guy, an unemployed guy or an assistant. What would have changed from a month ago to now for those guys? Nothing. I think we have the same shot at the same guys that are available to us.

If I have the talent, why not? Transferring is easy. If I am talented I can help him win. If he wins he will be here. If he is bringing in talent like mine, he will show promise in recruiting and be here.
The problem I have with this argument is that some of you said Macs contract was terrible because it was so long, yet now you will argue this.
I don't know if you argued this gocubs. It may be directed at you and may not be.
We need to clean house from anyone here in the last few years..... I'd be fine with Billy G.... plus Bergstrom and him are good friends... could get some cash for the bball program
One thing is for certain: this will be an extremely exciting coaching search.
I just think its crazy just a day or two ago we were hearing from insiders "Greg McDermott will be the Head Coach of ISU for many years."
