I'm guessing we don't see KG around these parts for a while now...

Those are 5 coaches who would all play a fun style of basketball and recruit.
How in the hell do you have any idea what style of basketball Hoiberg would play or how he would recruit considering he has NEVER BEEN A COACH. Can we please be freaking smarter than freaking Iowa fans.

Re: New head coach... who do you want??
Al Skinner did a great job of rebuilding BC. I think he would be a good choice as well.

He is NOT going to be hired as a head coach, not until he gets some coaching experience.

Style is the last thing Im worried about. He rebuilt BC into a solid program and had some great individual players along the way

Love the Mayor. Would love to hire a former player, but the goodwill-fanbase connection would run out quickly unless it was a quick turnaround with long-term success.
It could prove to be a perfect move — but I see no evidence that makes it seem like the best decision.

Re: New head coach... who do you want??
An outsiders prospective.
Congratulations on getting rid of McDermott, not having to pay to fire him, and not having to sit through a dead season waiting for your coach to be let go. We had to do that last one with quin snyder here at Missouri and it's not fun.
I think ISU is going to be an attractive job for coaches considering it is in the Big 12, has a good hoops history, and plays in a venue that is tough and intimidating to opponents.
On the down side the Big 12 North is a lot tougher and more stable than it was last time you all hired a coach. When you all hired McDermott we had just gotten rid of snyder, KSU had just gotten rid of Wooldridge, Nebraska's coach left to be the AD at Buttler, and Colorado was one year away from firing Ricardo Patton. KU was the only good program in our division and the rest was a train wreck. Since then Anderson and Martin have built solid programs at Mizzou and KSU, Saldler is decent coach at Nebraska, and an ACC school actually hired away Colorado's coach.
Setting aside the fact that I'm not sure we need another good coach in the Big 12 North here are some good coaches that I think could do well at ISU.

I love watching any college basketball but Big 12 basketball in particular so it is going to be interesting to see who you all hire.
Good luck with your coaching search.

Re: New head coach... who do you want??
I am A McD supporter, but I am Cyclone before that. I want what is best for this team. If McD interviewed, we need a new coach, plain and simple. Can you imagine if he does not take this job? How divided this will be?
Lets go get Mike Davis!
