Re: Creighton fans
I am also a Creighton fan, but I've been looking at this whole ordeal mostly through the perspective of an Iowa State fan. The Iowa State fan in me is glad McDermott is out at ISU without costing us a couple million, but the Creighton side isn't thrilled that he's going to CU. At least Mac has some past success in the Valley, so maybe it will turn out alright.

Honestly its probably a better move for CU. Im sure they could have gone after someone more noteable at this point, but this I believe will work out.

Re: Creighton fans
Well, I would assume they are all positive, given how we have been told it was only ISU fans that were amiss in thinking McD's tenure at ISU was an indication of McD's ability to succeed.

It never gets old hearing that ISU/Ames/CF/ our fans in general are the problem.
Only one sport isn't succeeding here right now....

Will be interesting to see how this all turns out. Not true.

Re: Creighton fans
It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see coach Mac be successful at CU.

Re: Creighton fans
I'm thinking McD is like Steve Alford. Big success with previous team, brought down current team, leaves current team for smaller school and does great with future team.
All the while each program loses very good coach, then goes through several coaches trying to be better. The question is, will Iowa ever find a Lute Olsen again? Will ISU ever get the Eustachy type again? (I struggled to decide on whether to use Floyd, Eustachy or Orr as my illustration) -
Re: Creighton fans
I think Creighton will do fine with Mac. The last Big 12 coach they hired worked out, didn't it? He was successful in the Valley before, and at ISU, just plain had some bad luck that snowballed and he couldn't get it together after that. Fresh new start for everyone. Especially us -

Re: Creighton fans
I think it's probably a good hire (for Creighton) The Valley seems to be GMac's nitche. I also think that the Bluejay faithful will appreciate this hire in the next season or so.

I can see his game plans work a lot better against teams that don't have as many atheletes as he faced every game in the Big 12. Also, I think that Creighton's AD likes the fact that GMAC went to a Big Conference and failed after having success in the MVC. It probably makes him think that he'll get to keep GMAC longer than most mid-major coaches that use the schools as a spring board. It's very similar to Altman and he turned down several bigger schools to stay at CU as long as he did.

Re: Creighton fans
GMac will probably do better because I don't think the Creighton message boards have as much power to affect his success like this one.
