ISU Coaches Not Fulfilling Contracts: A Generational Thing, Jamie?

The common theme for the coaches who aren't fulfilling their contracts with ISU:

    1. Jamie hired them
    2. They work for Jamie

You don't quit your job. You quit your boss.

I hope he realizes how foolish he looks now with his statements from a couple of weeks ago. Where in the world did the players learn to flee for greener pastures, Jamie?

Both coaches (actually all 3 coaches if you include Cael), parlayed this job into a bigger job and/or more money. How in the world is that Jamie's fault?

I disagree. He made two bad hires, yes, but nobody could have seen the GMac thing ending badly 5 years ago. Five years ago he was the HOT coach. Same with GC. It didn't work. We don't have to buy them out of their contract, and in fact, we get money ($800,000) and our wish anyway! I'd call that a very good business plan.

You can say that every player who left ISU basketball left for a better program.

Jamie doesn't seem to instill any type of loyalty from those who work for him and who he hired, does he?

Why do we need an AD? We, as the fans, should just tell the AD who the hot name is and he can negotiate the contract for us...although, his contract with GMAC leads me to believe he might not be great at that, either.

A huge part of hiring a candidate who will be successful is "fit". Just getting the hot name hasn't worked out so well for us, has it?

Why did you have to choose ISU? You would be a perfect Hawk.

Chizik & McDermott = Hires that appeared to be great at first, turned out to be poor, and were gone without having to pay the penalty of ISU buying out there contract. If you are an employer with poorly performing employees, it is your dream that they leave on their own free will instead of firing them. Pollard got lucky!

First you guys want him gone...then you're mad he doesn't fulfill his contract? He's saving us 2.5 million if he leaves. I say he should do what is best for him and his family.

You can't actually believe that, can you? Chizik/McDermott/Cael ALL left for more money. With the exception of Cael, they were no-brain decisions. McDermott is one year away from being fired and now he ends up with a 10 year, $9 million deal. There was a 0% chance he turns that down.

Loyalty to an employer is good, but you have to look out for yourself and your family first. I don't blame any of those guys for leaving Iowa State.

Congratulations on well thought out, very intelletcual post. I can really see that you thought about this alot and did not just go and post something with an irrational thought process. Way to go!!
