Last time McDermott left a school...
...he told his commits to keep their commitments to the school. This school has since been pretty successful.
Will he tell our commits to maintain their commitments to Iowa State University?

Good point. Maybe he'll do the same thing this time, the only difference is now I get a feeling that he is leaving with a sour taste in his mouth.

I haven't been one to call for his head, but I know that a lot of fans have been. However, if he's leaving with a bad taste in his mouth, it's his own doing. The administration and fans have bent over backwards in their accommodation of him relative to the success of the program. No way can he feel like he hasn't been given a fair shake.

Will he tell our commits to maintain their commitments to Iowa State University? His best friend was also the head coach in waiting, so that made a big difference, I imagine. I don't think he will ask any of his current players/recruits to stay, but I also don't know if any would want to follow him anyway. Bubu might be a good fit at Creighton, but I don't know about anyone else.

Not that I think he's necessarily the permanent solution, but if McD can finagle a short-term deal with Nurse, not necessarily label him interim, but just a 1-2 year max. contract, I'd rather he do that. It'd be nice if JP gave himself a full year to quietly do a coaching search instead of scrambling now. We're going to be hurting for awhile either way.

The only people with a sour taste in their mouths are ISU fans for having to live through these past 4 pathetic years with our program going in reverse.
By the way, any truth to the rumor he is bringing Benoit Benjamin in at Creighton to handle player relations?????

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

As for Wayne, there's a big difference between encouraging players to honor their commitment and flat out telling all of "his" players to leave ASAP. Wayne did Greg and ISU no favors with his exit strategy...

Do you really think McD is happy with the way things have gone here, especially the last few months? I'm not saying he has any right to be bitter with fans, because he let us down, not the other way around. I really don't see him doing us any favors.
If you think he still see ISU in a positive light, you are nuts.

He didn't seem to care about the mess he created while he was here. He imploded the program and now has turned around after JP was taking heavy fire for him and made JP look like a total idiot for supporting him. I bet JP won't be talking about how much integrity GMAC has now. lol. This whole situation is laughable but the best part is that we will get a new coach and got rid of a cancer in our program.
