Re: John Walters on KXNO at 5:15
Walters mentioned Card, Gregory, Franchilla as potential candidates. He thought no way on Floyd. Longshot on LE.

Sorry Chris, but I am not going to unite for Hoiberg. That would be a head scratcher for sure.
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section. -
Re: John Walters on KXNO at 5:15
CW, no Hoiberg! He hasn't had ONE year of college basketball coaching experience.

Hoiberg is welcome to replace Cy as our Mascot. But Head Basketball Coach? Chris??!!

Re: John Walters on KXNO at 5:15
Hoiberg, though awesome, has done nothing to earn the ISU B-ball job. No effing way.

Re: John Walters on KXNO at 5:15
dave is off his rocker. 7 years? it takes 2 or 3 players to win in basketball. it shouldn't take 7 years to get a team together, unless your name is greg. it should take 3 recruiting classes top to field a team that can compete.

Jake Sullivan is more qualified than Hoiberg

Re: John Walters on KXNO at 5:15
Chris, since youre taking votes, put me down for Billy Clyde Gillispie.
Yes, he has past issues, but as you said *everyone* is going to have some baggage, whether that be on the court (lack of wins\experience) or off the court. BCG has gone through rehab, and as long as we write the contract well in our favor regarding any potential off the court issues (ie: we dont pay him a dime if we have to fire him after a DUI), I think he's a great option for ISU. He's a proven turnaround guy, who could bring us wins quick.
A caller said we cant hire BCG because we fired Eustachy for drinking. Id counter that with the fact that its clear that a lot of people think that firing was a big mistake.
As for hoiberg? Not just no, but hell no. No coaching experience whatsoever. We need a guy who can coach.

Hoiberg would further divide. Why not talk about guys who have actually coached? We're not building our Iowa State fantasy basketball team. Hell, let's just throw out all the names. How about Big Vic? What's he doing? Is Loren Meyer in Ruthven? What's Lafester Rhodes up to? How about Elmer Robinson? No one got more coaching at Iowa State than Elmer. Johnny Orr was always yelling at him.

Re: John Walters on KXNO at 5:15
Would Hoiberg leave Minnesota for anything less than a HC position? It would be great to groom him in an assistant role.

I agree. 4 years should be enough to turn around a college basketball team. 2 years is possible when the stars align just right.
