JP - why speculation doesn't work
I know a lot of people don't like JP, but lets look at his hires. He has done a great job and kept everyone in the dark up to the moments he introduces them. When chizdik came in that was a shocker, when McD came in that was somewhat of a shocker, when Rhoads came in - 1/2 of cyclone nation never heard of him.
we can chat about who we want all we want all day, however JP has a plan in place and is not going to let anyone know what it is. i am guessing that we will all be shocked with the hire he gets and i am guessing that we all will be excited about it.
i was excited at the moment when JP: - hired Mcd
- hired Chizdik
- hired Rhoads
His picks may not have always worked out the way he or we intended, but they were solid picks.
He is a good AD and has done the school well. let him do his job and sit back and wait for something special to happen.

I was not excited about McDermott. The basketball coach search seemed rushed.

Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
A co-worker put it well, if JP was playing blackjack, you'd swear he was counting cards. Chizik and McD turned out to be duds, but coaches like that eventually get shown the door and bought out, not hired away!
I'm excited to see who they pick, as I'd like to think they've learned a lot from the Chizik conundrum.

I am a JP supporter as I see so much improvement other than mens bball. Maybe we can now catch a break.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I have total confidence in Pollard. He knows what he is doing and he cares deeply for ISU.

Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
I agree his picks may not have always worked out in exactly the way we all imagined they would but he does his homework and makes what seem to be good picks at the time. His last two hires have been of relatively unknown guys in Jackson and CPR but they seem to have worked out well so far. I believe this choice will be no different.

Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
Don't get me wrong, I like how JP keeps coaching searches under wraps. What I don't understand is why some people feel that means we should automatically assume he'll hire someone good.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -
Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
Pollard is good for ISU Athletics. We need to JP to hit a triple. We don't need a home run.

Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
I agree with Miller and Deace on this one- he is aggressive, and sometimes that gets him burned, but by being aggressive, things just seem to work out for him. -
Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
I think Pollard will do a great job on his search. He usually picks someone with Iowa ties so rule out guys that have no connection to us at all- we will not be chizzed again!

Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
This will be the biggest hire of his career in my opinon. Also the last major one I believe as a Cyclone AD.
I agree you can never guess as he's always seems to surprise us. I really hope the new coach has some ISU connections.

Re: JP - why speculation doesn't work
I just hope JP doesnt just rush it for the sake of rushing it.
If he announces someone like Jeter (the other guy in the last search) I'd be extremely disappointed.

I agree, take some time and get it right.
