Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
Creighton, a better job than Iowa State? Historically, no. At the moment, yes.
And the reason for that is? Creighton's new coach.
The Qwest is a nicer arena but at it's best it can't touch Hilton at it's best, even with 3000 more people.
McD may do fine in Omaha, but he just wasn't cut out for the Big 12.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
Give 'em 4 years with Greg. ISU will be a better job than Creighton.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
Wow, what a steaming pile. It makes it sound like McD is a genious for jumping ship to Creighton right now because the cupboard is bare at ISU for next season, but it doesn't bother to point out that McD is the reason we got there?
He then goes on to write about how CU is the big show in the big arena in Omaha and it gets the spotlight. How well did Gmac handle the big stage here? I believe somebody on CF described his press conference persona with a potato comparison. Oh, and the excuse that he was lost in Rhoad's shadow? CPR has only been here for a year. What about the 3 before that when the football program was just awful? The only reason Mac is stuck in the shadow was the product Mac put on the floor.
The new job is more stable because Rasmussen is on more solid ground than Pollard. Umm, outside of a few fringe people on this site, does anyone feel like Pollards job security is in question?
And then finally we go into the Greg's a nice guy, he is an honesty guy, he has good Midwestern values that Nebraskans will appreciate. Hey Creighton fans, you enjoy hearing that when people are using it to defend his job after you have missed the post season for the 4th year in a row with an even worse 5th looming on the horizon. I hope one of the values you appreciate isn't winning.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
a better job than ISU ? Of course, for McD
Share the limelight with CPR ? No if you can win. Let's take BF as example: he has his own share of fans even with CPR's first successful season, everyone stil lrespects him and loves him. If you lose, you'll definitely be overshadowed.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
Sipple is a hack. He doesn't have anything else to write about right now because spring football in Lincoln is over. The next time he writes anything objective will be the first, no way he ever takes a chance at rubbing the readers the wrong way.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
He also states that expectations are less. To me, if expectations are lower, then its not a better job. Why is Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, etc such a great job? Because they expect a national championship every year.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
CU's arena is nicer because its newer. Hilton will never win that contest. However Hilton has history and is a solid arena as well. I love that place. Sure, it needs some updates and such, but that will come as the money does. CU's facility is really nice, Ive been there, but I wouldnt trade hilton for the world.

You guys need to settle down. That was a very fair article. If you don't believe what he wrote, OK, but it seems like an accurate sports article to me.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
He's just made about the football game last fall.

Re: Sipple: Creighton job better than ISU
Mr. Sipple would receive bonus points for his article if he had mentioned that the McDermott hire might be a boon for the Omaha travel agencies as current and future players jump ship to find another school. I bleed Cardinal & Gold -

I didn't read anything that was incorrect.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read.
