Getting Sanderson was equivalent to getting Michael Jordan as head coach. But Hoiberg isn't Jordan. He's just a nice guy and a good former ISU basketball player.

Sanderson was not a good coach he was the micheal jordan of wrestling

Fred is Fred he wasnt much more than a role player

The staff better be out of this world!

If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team.

Put it this way, I don't know if it is a great hire....but you're going to be there every night watching won't you? Anybody with an ounce of Cyclone in them is going to be on the edge of their seat hoping The Mayor can pull this off and willing him to be successful. This hire has the makings of bringing Hilton Magic back!

I too am worried about his coaching experience, but he's no arm-chair point guard (you like that), the guy could play the game and is plenty knowledgable to coach, the experience is what he lacks, but if he surrounds himself with the right guys, he could be fine.

I'M ON BOARD!!! Happy to be a Cyclone!!

If you can manage in the NBA, I imagine you have the aptitude to be a college coach. Direct experience is nice, but this guy has been to the top and must have all sorts of connections. I bet those connections can help with recruiting. I bet he has been in enough meetings to understand the x and o's. Welcome home Freddy! The last three days could not have been ******-ed any better!

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'll be honest, I don't follow WR very close) but didn't he win like 3 big12 titles as a coach in a row and have his team #2 in the nation for a very long time?

Not sure about y'all but for me that is getting the job done.

He couldnt beat Iowa and when you are ISU and its wrestling success it is only measured in national titles and beating iowa!

I love the guy to death, but we needed a guy with experience of some kind at the D1 level.

    I hope this works...

Maybe with his NBA connections he can bring Isiah Thomas on board and finish the program completely off.

Same here. He fails and there goes one of the greatest Cyclone legends ever. Even Gary Thompson was smart enough not to get into coaching, especially without experience.
