Hoiberg is the coach, what happens to Nurse and Grayer
What will happen with Nurse and Grayer?
I think Nurse needs to be kept around. Definitely need his experience coaching and his connections overseas.

They will work on the Mayor's staff.

Re: Hoiberg is the coach, what happens to Nurse and Grayer
I say you keep both of them (and Otz)...make Grayer the Director of Operations and Let Fred go out and get one more Assistant that is a good recruiter/teacher. Pretty solid staff right there if you ask me.

I think they are definitely on the staff. Nurse will really help with the "coaching" part IMO.

I bet they both stay on. My gut says, with the speed this happened, that things have been developing for longer than we all think.

between the 3 zero college coaching
I think Jeff is gone
They need at least 2 college guys on the staff
If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team. -

ABC 5 said they are probably both going to be back.

Would they follow Mac to Creighton though?

Re: Hoiberg is the coach, what happens to Nurse and Grayer
My guess is Hoiberg will not be paid much for a HC and Nurse and Otz will be paid relatively well as assistants. The only way I feel real comfortable here is if both of them are here.

Or so I have read. -
Re: Hoiberg is the coach, what happens to Nurse and Grayer
I would personally rather have Fred be able to hire his own staff. If he wants to keep Grayer and Nurse fine but he may have some real great assistants in line.

Re: Hoiberg is the coach, what happens to Nurse and Grayer
Nurse will stay on and hopefully prep Fred for a couple years. His experience is more valuable than Grayer's popularity imo.

Obviously published while McD was still here, but still relevant. Cyclone basketball: Jeff Grayer joins men's coaching staff | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register
The Mayor approves.
"Outstanding hire," former Iowa State basketball star Fred Hoiberg said when told Friday that former Cyclone great Jeff Grayer is returning to the school, this time as one of coach Greg McDermott's assistants.
"I think Cyclone fans should be very comfortable with where the program is headed right now.
"Jeff's a big part of Hilton magic."

Talk about a fresh vibrant team of coaches
Hoiberg, Grayer, Nurse, and TJ would be great.

I think this is a great hire. It will be a process rebuilding this mess to where it needs to be, but if anyone is going to get a little leeway, it's Freddie, and we should have a good start with retaining players and recruits.
