Those who disagree with the hire...
do so because of some intense hate for Pollard. Phil Jackson would be picked apart for his lack of college coaching experience if he were the guy.
Name a better hire... I'll proceed to light him up with negativity to show how easy it is and how shortsighted some of your are.

I have already done it: Mike Krzyzewski Too hard to spell name Roy Williams Hate him because he stole HB and hated him at KU Billy Donovan Cant recruit in the Midwest Rick Pitino Dont like Italians Bobby Knight Too mean Jim Calhoun Too old John Calipari His players are too good and leave early Tom Izzo Made LE drink too much Lute Olson Yuck..he was at Iowa Fred Hoiberg No experience On and on and on and on -
Re: Those who disagree with the hire...
Does pointing fingers at the fans that do not fully support this hire make the hire better? If you believe in it so much, why focus on the negative arguments and not make a case for why Fred is the right hire?
Fans all the time complain that other fans have too low of expectations. Our AD just entrenched this, by hiring a no-experience coach...when he could have conducted a thorough search and selected a coach with some sort of track record.
The fans are now expected to donate at levels higher than ever before. We're expected to buy tickets and support the program even during the very bad times. If you're not donating or buying tickets, you're expectations should be lowered.
On the flip side, it's perfectly fine to hire a HC in the Big 12 conference that has never, ever coached a game.
I'll state this, since it's completely fine for you to make inaccurate assessments that "if you don't like the hire it's because you hate JP"...
If you support this hire, you're expectations of ISU are very, very low.

But to belittle the coaching profession by hiring a COMPLETELY inexperienced coach to lead a major college program is a tad risky. If coaching were so easy, wouldn't more people be doing it?

Wrong. I like JP, but I think he has made a --major-- screw up here.
A better hire: Anyone who has been a head coach for even one season at the level of division one college basketball.
Sure, Hoiberg could do better or worse than that, but to be a good hire you -have- to bring something more to the table than being well liked by the fanbase.

Re: Those who disagree with the hire...
I haven't seen Pollard's name mentioned once when discussing the negative aspects of this hire. Fred's a great guy (so was GMac). Hopefully he will be successful here. If not, a Legend is tarnished and will be chewed up by the fan base that once loved him.

Not to be political, but its like Obama running for President when he had never done anything in his life. Hard to shoot holes in ones resume when there is no resume.
Again - weird hire but I'm excited for the rebirth of Cyclone basketball - the Hoiberg Odyssey.

Re: Those who disagree with the hire...
Look, this is just silly. I'm support Pollard, and think his past hires have been pretty good (whether they have ended up working out or not).
But to think someone is questioning this hire because they hate Pollard? Please. It seems to me like a PR hire, designed to unite the fanbase. If Hoiberg just had a few years of coaching under his belt, as an assistant even I would support this 100%.
But ISU is going to need some rebuilding the next few years. Throwing one of the most beloved figures in ISU sports history out to the Big XII seems like he's being set up for failure. I think most fans questioning this hire are worried for Fred, and for ISU basketball if he doesn't succeed.

ISU fanbase continues to prove they don't think with their heads only their hearts.

Re: Those who disagree with the hire...
Any coach that was on the list CW put out yesterday would have been a better choice.

Fred is a great guy and just does not need to sacrifice himself anymore than he has for ISU. It would just kill me to see our fanbase turn on Fred. Turn it down Fred and have a happy hero's life!
