It was the personality. Nice guy, I've spoken to him - but just seemed uptight sometimes and slightly intimidating. Needed to let loose more.

I kind of got that feeling from McDermott too.

Maybe its just me, but Hoiberg's demeanor sort of reminds me of Ferentz. Personally, I like that, but it will be interesting to see if he can bring some fire on the sidelines as well.

I thought it was a good presser. I was hoping for some more energy out of Fred but you can still see the passion is there.

I really hope this works.

Freddie is reserved and professional when talking to the media. You could see that even as a player. There's just something about the guy that makes you like him.

As a person I already like him MUCH more than Mac. Hopefully his coaching and wins are MUCH more too.

Great presser. I think he will grow into the role quickly. I like that he's very open minded and knows he needs to learn. I don't like it when people are so cocky or arrogant. He name dropped a couple times... But I think he tossed names out to build confidence in people and also to sell to young players and recruits. Hearing all those names is very exciting to 18 year old kids.

I think he will be a non-stop worker and it will be fun to watch him develop into (I believe) a top coach that is 100% aligned to ISU fan's best interests!

For me, that was when he had me. Up to that point I was a little skeptical but when he showed that raw emotion like he did and he didn't shy away from it I got the feeling this was the guy.

Now, I didn't see the whole presser, just the last 15 minutes so maybe Fred had that moment, we will see.

I feel much, much better about the hire after the PC. I thought the line about "I have every NBA GM's phone number on speed dial on my cell phone. That should sound pretty good to a recruit." was classic.

My only fear was that JP didn't even talk to anyone else about the job it appears.

the two things that I liked was that the team is going to work on spacing and shooting. Fred has obviously seen some film of last year's team.
