Player respect for Fred
Player Interviews on Fred Hoiberg Hiring - Clone Zone - Cyclones.com
when he talks, they will listen.
All of them said, he played in NBA....knows the NBA...when he tells me I need to do something to improve, I know what he is saying is legit.
gotta think this is going to bode well for a positive attitude in the lockerroom and in living rooms.

It's good to feel excited/hopeful for mens basketball for the first time since Wes J left.

Re: Player respect for Fred
I noticed how all the current players stood, smiled, and clapped as FH was introduced. Another thing I noticed was I didn't see one player clap when JP thanked GMAC for his time at Iowa State.
Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd -

Boozers brother played against Freddy.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Re: Player respect for Fred
I think the most telling thing was Laron's interview.
Suggests that he is going to listen to whatever Coach says because Fred knows what it takes to get to the next level (Kind of implies to me that sometimes with the previous staff he didn't always buy in, but that's another topic)
MORE Importantly:
When asked about the team dynamic right now the way his eyes light up and the enthusiasm in his answer. Kind of saw the same kind of belief when you watch DG's portion of the interview. These guys look like they want to play for Coach Hoiberg to the point they'll run into the Suckop gym walls if he asks them too.
Funny things I noticed:
They list Dendy on the caption as Dendy Laron.
The reporter that didn't really know who he was talking to ask Boozer about how exciting it is to have an NBA connection. "Blamo"! The new CF approved swear word. -

gotta think this is going to bode well for a positive attitude in the lockerroom and in living rooms. This is what I have been saying for a few years - there is a style of basketball that these kids want to play, and you need that style of play and talent, to consistently compete in a BCS conference. We want kids who think they can play in the NBA. I know there are exceptions (Wisconsin), but this puts us back on the right track.
Go Cyclones! Go Freddie!

Good stuff. you didn't see that kind of enthusiasm for McD's regime.
seeing boozer reminded me he looks a lot like Drake, the R&B singer.. Has anyone ever noticed this?

I'm pleased that Dendy was there and is excited about next year. His athletic ability will be very important to this team next year, so I hope he can be there in the fall when practice begins.

Re: Player respect for Fred
Dendy has been very focused recently. He is a man on a mission to get his house in order, have a great senior year, and then make some $$$ playing pro ball somewhere (Europe, NBA or otherwise).

Go Cyclones! Go Freddie! Exactly! Not that the Wisconsin half court style of play can't work, but it does eliminate a big portion of the recruiting pool. Also, when you are digging out of a hole, that style leads to some ugly losses and if the wins don't come soon, then the boring play snowballs into defections, fan apathy and eventual firing. It's better to play up tempo.
