Hoiberg mentioned on Dan Patrick Show

Didn't see this posted, but just listened to Dan Patrick interviewing Reggie Miller and they brought up Coach Hoiberg. When DP mentioned his name, Miller just shouted "The Mayor!" They mentioned the bet between Miller and Hoiberg regarding the naming of their first-born child, even though Miller said the bet was over a one-on-one game. The thing I took away from it was that Miller said that Hoiberg was the one who helped him get ready for a playoff game against Atlanta while Reggie was rehabbing from an injury. I hope some recruits were listening, it's great to hear a player of Reggie Miller's caliber praising Coach Hoiberg!

Very impressive indeed! I can't wait for fall and the new season.

Nice........I don't like name dropping, but I hope that Freddie (or his assistants) do it without shame.

Now that's a great story.

This is a pipe dream, but it would be cool to have Reggie * a total coincidence, of course * in Ames for a shoot around during a recruiting weekend :D

Thanks for the info. More good national publicity for Fred and the program.

What did Reggie have to say about the hire? I'm assuming it's positive, but would like to hear it.

He didn't really give an opinion IIRC. He shouted The Mayor! The Mayor is going home, or something like that. Then they basically went on to the bet and how Freddie helped him get ready for the playoff game before getting off track and DP talking about how he could score on Jordan and score in the D-League lol

Isn't that a part of recruiting - who has the better "name-dropping" list?

Wouldn't THAT be something...

I just hope no recruits were listening to Two Guys Named Jim last night. If so, we might as well give up on recruiting for the year

That's okay if they were. Freddy is looking for recruits who are intelligent enough to critically analyze what they hear on a crappy sports radio show. If Jim Zabel and Jim Walden influence their decisions, they probably aren't terribly bright anyway.

I freaking love Reggie Miller. My favorite player ever. His interviews on that show are always hilarious!
