U of Minnesota looking for bb players as well
Third time is not a charm for Tubby Smith's 2010 recruiting class
I think FH will put a plan in place for 2011 but the window is closing on 2010 recruits as the article points out.
The article mentions many names in recent posts.

I think you don't worry about more for next year, unless they're just spectacular, can't-afford-to-miss recruits.

Yeah, but at this point, we may not even be able to field a team at all?
JVB said at FH's press conference that he wasn't sure he was even coming back? Oliver may not be healthy? Dendy may not qualify? If this all happened, then we'd have only 3 guys coming back in DG, SC, and Bubu.
Throw in Ejim, Phillips, Railey, McKnight (if he qualifies?), and Godfrey (if he qualifies?)... and we've got a grand total of 8 players. Can we go through the entire year next season with only 8 guys?
Is it time for campus tryouts yet?

Is The University in Minnesota like Ames?

Re: U of Minnesota looking for bb players as well
Did JVB say that? I don't have a memory of it, but that doesn't mean a ton.

"The Gophers also considered Milwaukee Lutheran's Chim Kadima, an undecided combo guard who decommitted from Iowa State."
Who is Chim Kadima? I've never heard of him.

Is it time for campus tryouts yet? Yes. But obviously this is not desirable.
My question is where are all of the players from the FH list of professional contacts? Right after the hire we were hearing stories of his contacts saying..."players, you need players? I can help you get players!"...where are these guys?
My point is not to knock FH or his contacts...but to point out to those of you that thought that because FH was in an NBA front office and he has an impressive list of names programmed into his smart phone that the recruiting flood gates were going to be magically opened....unfortunately, it just does not work that way.
Recruiting at the major college level is a competitive and tough environment...I hope FH is able to effectively navigate the recruiting trail because ultimately it will be the determinant of his success at ISU.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

I think we should just start going for 2011. Signing day is 6 months away. That is the key here, in all likelihood we won't be that good next year anyway. We will certainly be interesting though.

I actually took this as shady characters calling him to offer players. Either way, I agree w/ the later point that we only NEED quality bodies and perhaps just someone to fill any depth issues so we can field a team next year.

Who is Chim Kadima? I've never heard of him. One of Greg's former early commits who GM later realized couldn't hack it at the Big 12 level. Same class as Jordan Dykstra, both early commits, same deal.

Umm can you wait a few days for him to get going in the job. It's not like you take a job and the next day 15 Euro's call you asking for a scholly.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Absolutely. If he can't recruit, it's all for naught. That said, he gets a pass on this year for obvious reasons. I'm just happy he's kept McDermott's recruiting class together, because that's all we've got.
