Calvin Godfrey Signs With Iowa State Men's Basketball

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State men’s basketball team added bulk in the middle of its lineup by signing Robbinsdale, Minn., power forward Calvin Godfrey to a national letter of intent this afternoon. Godfrey made it official when he inked with the Cyclones at a ceremony at Cooper High School.

Godfrey, who is listed at 6-8, 240 pounds, is the fifth Cyclone in the 2010-11 recruiting class. ISU head coach Fred Hoiberg is pleased to be bringing in more size to the squad.

"We are very excited to have Calvin join our program,” Hoiberg said. “We anticipate him earning playing time immediately. He possesses a great motor, along with a high level of strength and athleticism. He will make an impact for us on the boards, blocking shots and finishing at the rim with power."

I like it. He's got the kind of size that we haven't had at the PF spot since, well, Fizer was still playing.

Edit: I forgot about Jared Homan, but he wasn't nearly as good of a finisher as I suspect Godfrey will be.

I like this recruiting class a lot. Only if phillips was a freshmen we would be able to watch these five play with each other for a long time.

Sounds look a great prospect, I will be excited to see him play. Anyone have an accurate height/weight on him? I have seen him listed between 6'8" and 6'10 and between 215 and 240.
