Re: Jarrod Uthoff info & video...
I would really like to get this kid. This is a SOLID Iowa Basketball player. First things first... we HAVE to win Iowa Recruiting. It's the same in every sport. Win Iowa first. Start to branch out to close regional states.
The difference between recruiting Iowa for Football and recuriting Iowa for basketball is, the state of Iowa continually puts out GREAT b-ball talent. You can build a program around just Iowa kids like Uthoff.

The patented response of those that cast aspersions. Thus, absolving themselves of any responsibility.

I don't think you can build a program around them, but you can certainly utilize them in shaping your team. Presently, the talent in-state is probably good enough to build a team around, but for the majority of the time, I do think you need your share of Iowa kids, but not too many.

You cant just have iowa kids you still need out of state players to find more athleticism. Theres not much in iowa

Well, the problem here is that your OLD argument is that message boards hurt recruiting if recruits see negative things written about them. We're not even arguing that.
Nobody in this thread is saying that Uthoff sucks, etc. Just that the video is less than flattering of his real skills. Even if he does read these boards, he can hardly perceive that as a slight to his basketball ability, just to the video editing skills of the guy who put it out.

False. On his AAU team he plays the 3. On his high school team he plays post though.
Re: Jarrod Uthoff info & video...
That missed alley-oop on the video was over me, by the way. Oops :)
Re: Jarrod Uthoff info & video...
CIMD, what do you think our odds are of landing Jok?

All these guys completely disagree with you...
Jess Settles, Raef LaFrentz, Fred Hoiberg, Dean Oliver, Nick Collison, Kirk Hinrich, Glen Worley, Greg Brunner, Adam Haluska, Jeff Horner, Brooks McKowen, Ben Jacobson, Jim Binnie, Jason Bohannon, Jordan Egelseder, Ali Faroukmanesh, Harrison Barnes, Jarod Uthoff, Marcus Paige, Adam Woodbury, Wes Staten, Peter Jok

It's all tickle fights and rainbows.
If a kid is going to base where he goes to college on how a bunch message board posters reviewed his video, I don't want him to go to school here and he probably won't be eligible anyway.

How can you put guys up there that haven't competed at the college level yet? Do you think McKowen, Jacobson, Binnie, Egelseder, and Ali would have done anything at the Big 10 or Big 12 level?
Iowa kids are a nice supplement to out of state recruits.

I actually think that a team could compete COMPLETELY with Iowa kids. But the key is that you have to get ALL of the good ones and not miss out on late bloomers like Korver, Jacobson and Funk. That's never going to happen, so the best bet is to get as many of the best Iowa kids as we can and then supplement with out of state kids and JUCOs.
