Much Props to Da Mayor
When we first chose him as a coach I admit i was somewhat disappointed in how we went about the search. But as I am starting to read more and more and see him get two very good transfer and sign solid recruits and having not coached a game. I feel so much better about him being the coach.
I think we may even be better than we expected next year....and thats with no kool aid

Re: Much Props to Da Mayor
I don't know that we'll be better than we thought next year. But I love what Hoiberg is doing so far. He's put together some good pieces and I cannot be more excited that he (obviously mainly b/c of TJ) managed to keep the current team together and also to keep our recruiting class together. I think it is pretty clear that he's thought a lot about what he would do if he was a college head coach. Some of his ideas won't work, but it's not like any coach always has the right moves.
There will be some games next year (hopefully not many) when we will all be complaining that Hoiberg has no idea what it takes to win in the Big 12. But I think if we are patient, we'll realize that he'll get it figured out. And I think he'll be a good coach.
It just feels right, you know? I really liked McDermott, but it never quite felt right. He made a lot of good moves that just didn't work out. And the moves that he made that were bad turned out twice as bad as you would think. It was the curse of Iowa State and maybe just maybe Fred can avoid that.

I'm with you, jsb. This couldn't feel much more right than it does.
I think we can do .500 this year, or even a mild winning record, and that would be awesome for a first year.

Don't be surprised at Fred's first season. I think he can bring it together for a tournment bid!!

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Re: Much Props to Da Mayor
I'm hoping for at least a .500 record and maybe a win or two in the Big 12 tourny.
I know he can do this job. He's been dreaming of it and he has a plan and the beginning stages are looking good.

We may not have a winning record, but I bet there is at least one top 15 upset at Hilton this year to build on.

Agree with many. We are in a very deep hole at the bottom of a very tall mountain. At least with the mayor I have a bit of renewed faith that says he at least brought some mountain climbing gear where as mcdermot only brought sinkers for the pool

Re: Much Props to Da Mayor
He has proven that he is a solid closer when recruits come to campus (sound familiar?). He has his solid recruiter to get recruits to campus (TJ). Now we need to see how good of a coach he can actually be. If he can pull of a few mild upsets and possibly out coach the man sitting across from him, then I will be sold. Until that day, I won't get to excited about our bball program. They have a lot of hard work ahead to get back where we want them.

Re: Much Props to Da Mayor
If we can manage a .500 record or better, I will be very pleased. Looking forward to a team that plays together and at a good pace, especially in Hilton.
