What is the situation with Oliver? We were supposed to hear something about this a couple of weeks ago, but still nothing has been said.

Iowa State men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced today that LaRon Dendy, a senior-to-be from Greenville, S.C., has asked for and been granted his release to transfer to another school.

The 6-9, 230-pound power forward played in 24 games for the Cyclones in his only year with the team in 2009-10, averaging 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds. Dendy shot 60 percent from the field (69-115 FG) and ranked seventh in the Big 12 in blocks at 1.3 bpg.

“LaRon and I met yesterday and he informed me of his intentions to transfer to another school,” Hoiberg said. “He explained to me this was something he has been considering for quite some time. We will do everything we can to help LaRon in his future goals.”

Hoiberg also confirmed that Antwon Oliver will not be returning to the team. A native of Racine, Wis., Oliver redshirted last season in his only year with the Cyclones.
