At the end of the day, what matters are results...results as defined by wins.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: Possible Assistant
in four years of losing basketball, TJ may end up with three of his recruits drafted in the NBA (Taylor, Brackins, Gilstrap). that is impressive.

OK...but he is supposed to be recruiting for ISU. I'm sorry but one year guys like Taylor and Gilstrap do not impress me in terms of his recruiting abilities.
Clearly, Brackins was a great get...but hadn't he coached Brackins previously or something...I really don't know...but I do know that most on this site chastize other schools when they hire a coach as an assistant and one of his players follows him.

They chastize out of jealousy. You have to play the game.

In my opinion, I do not want a coach that is an outright cheater...but I do want a coach that is going to stretch the rules as much as possible and always be looking for loopholes. The guys that are great recruiters are the ones that can find advantages that others overlook...for example, Saban using video conferencing equipment to get past limits on visiting high schools before they closed that loophole.
This is why I don't criticise K-State or KU for how they hire their assistants. This is why I have no problem with us potentially having a handshake deal with Lutz but nothing official so he can make contacts because he is not officially affiliated and hence governed by NCAA rules.
