I'm always excited for basketball season, no matter what product we have on the floor. There's something about Hilton that makes it exciting and a reason why I love going to games.
Nothing gets me going more than the smell of Hilton. I could live there year round, just love the place. Now with every school playing in there every year, its going to get even better.
But let's not forget what chewy did to our program over the past 4 1/2 years. This will not be an overnight fix.
Add in that Freddie is going to be learning on the fly, and it could get dicey. Although it is better for him to do this in a year where we are probably going to be pretty bad.
I just want to see the team actually get better over the course of the year (something that chewy's didn't). And I don't want to see Freddie standing there overcoaching his team to the point that they don't know what to do (like chewy did).
Should be fun watching. My only concern is that there is very little experience on the court. Even with that the Coach Hoiberh will have them ready for just about anything.
I don't think we're good enough right now to even worry about who left from Kansas, Texas, Baylor, KSU. Our focus needs to be instead to win four or five of our seven most winnable games, which are Colorado x2, Nebraska x2, home vs. Oklahoma, home vs. Tech, home vs. Mizzou, and then trying to steal one from the other 9 games. Getting to 5-11 next year in the league would probably be overachieving, so that is a solid goal for Fred's first year with DG and a bunch of nobodies.
the more and more i think about it, i'm starting to like the idea of the round robin schedule in 2012
