Reliable person close to Dendy from his Indian Hills days told me that he asked to come back to Iowa State and Hoiberg wasn't too keen on the idea and said the feeling was not mutual. The person used the adjective "begged" when describing the situation to me.
He also told me that Dendy has not gained any interest at all from schools and doesn't have any offers out there. Apparently he has even considered DII and there is nothing coming his way from there either.
I will guess that if true, this is one of two things. FH is not letting him come back at all no matter what, or as a more unlikely (like a 1% chance) option, he is going to show him what was out there and by the end of summer may allow him to conditionally return with the possibility of playing when he shows commitment. I doubt it but it could happen. I think I would rather have him just cut him loose and set a precedent. You don't want to be hear, you don't get to be here.
Dendy has acted like a wishy-washy headcase and needs to live with his decision to move on. I'd rather give meaningful playing time to a freshman that wants to be here than a undercommitted fence jumper. You're either in or you're out. He chose to be out. I hope to God he's learned something from this experience.
