Re: ISU Releases MBB Schedule
This is a pretty good schedule, considering the circumstances coming in. Not leaving the state for over a month might come back and bite us a little.

Clearly, The GM era has put ISUMBB on life support. I think nearly everybody gets that and admits to that at this point.
However, this is CBB...and CBB at the high DI level is predominated by young teams...you rarely run into a high DI team that is starting a group of 4 or 5 year seniors and, frankly, the best teams are almost always starting a very good group of freshman and sophomores. All of this young team, learning to play together stuff is total BS in CBB.
I just get sick of how many ISU fans are so willing to throw away seasons for lame excuses...new coaches...new players...new system...blah....blah...blah. Fortunately, I believe based upon his actions since becoming our HC that Hoiberg is not one that ascribes to some five year plan. He appears to understand that this is CBB and you need to win...and win now.
By the way, having a great record as a result of a lame non-conference schedule really leaves you totally unprepared for what will come to you when conference play begins in a big boy conference like the Big 12. the fact is that those schools you see starting freshman and sophmores--those kids are mcdonalds all americans at schools like kentucky, ku, texas, etc. iowa state is not in a position to be able to run out the freshman and sophmores that we have and be great. plus, most of those freshman dont start as seniors why? because they leave early for the NBA. once ISU is at a position to grab a few highly touted freshman, then i'll agree with you. but the schedule seems right for having only 3 guys on the roster who have played more than a minute of big 12 basketball. it gives these young kids confidence, and thats what we need heading into big 12 play

One of the big cupcakes is 21 Nov at WF. Their coach does not make adjustments.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I probably would do that, too, and I'd have to drive about 8 hours to do so.
If GM won a game like that when he almost went 0-4 vs. his former team when he was at ISU, karma is out of whack.

He just has not had enough time to run off all of the players.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

I thought it was an uncomfortable sign when he lost that first season, but I figured, well, it was on the road, NI would be pumped, etc.
Second year loss, didn't bode well.
I know, I've been using "bode" a lot lately. -
Re: ISU Releases MBB Schedule
Can't there be weaker BCS schools to schedule, or even teams from the West Coast Conference, Mountain West or Conference USA....I'm tired of seeing East-West Tennessee State A&M, who is just in transition of being D1.....The way I look at it, you gotta beat the best to be the best....This Bill Snyder way of scheduling does not work. A problem with this is the transition into Big 12 play, we go from playing a D-I Independent Cellar Dweller to teams like Kansas, Texas etc... in a matter of days....These games are good in the month of November to mesh the team and create continuity among the lineups...but once we get into late December and we're still playing these teams....All these teams are good for easy W's, they literally tell us nothing about how the team will do once the big 12 schedule starts...The UNI game last year pretty much summed up the way the rest of the season was headed based on 2 scenarios, the team was going to rebound and try to be competitive, or the team seemed to be like a train on the tracks with the wheels coming off....the rest was history....the reason i find to be true, lack of preparation for the foreseeable storm of the Big 12...
