And a venue that only some can attend? Wasn't Johnny and everyman's type of coach?
Nice to honor the man. Not sure I like this way. But I'm not a big donor type, so I shouldn't complain. i guess some people will find fault with anything......

Nice to honor the man. Not sure I like this way. But I'm not a big donor type, so I shouldn't complain. You can always walk over and look at the statue...

Interesting how the people that are against it have turned it from a gathering area for donors into a glorified dive bar.

Re: Johnny's at Hilton Coliseum
Because donors currently have drinking venues.

I think this is a very cool idea and can't wait to see it. I'm guessing Johnny is very honored by this. I love the fact that you can walk around and look at different artifacts and memorabilia from his time coaching - IMO, that's much more interesting and exciting than seeing his name on the floor.

That's correct, according to this story on channel 5's website. Honoring Johnny Orr -

Re: Johnny's at Hilton Coliseum
I like the plan, but it will be a crazy crowded place at half time of conference games if they go too far down the donor list for entrance qualification.

Re: Johnny's at Hilton Coliseum
For people that think Johnny will be offended by a drinking establishment named in his honor, they don't know Coach very well!

Re: Johnny's at Hilton Coliseum
If we're going to do this for Johnny at Hilton, we need something similiar for Dan McCarney at Jack Trice - just sayin'.

So this is much better than having a floor named after you. The way Walters describes it, it sounds like the memorabilia and everything will be out front where all the fans can see it, not just the donors. The Sports bar is named Johnny's which only the donors can get it, but it sounds like the "shrine" area will be accessible to all.

Still think we can put a fistpump on the court.
