    O well.

Already started physical therapy and will get the surgery in a couple weeks, after a buddies wedding I have coming up.

Still pain and swelling and a lot of stiffness, although flexibility is getting better by the hour. I'm hoping I can get walking normally soon and hopefully be able to drive a car soon (it's the right knee).

    Knowing the facts, any advice/do's/don'ts?

Thanks again for all the replies...
I would just take it easy on the good knee. When I was younger I had a partial tear of the ACL which didn't require surgery but was in an immobilizer then a huge brace. I thought it would be ok if i just jumped around and made sure to land on the "good" knee. Ended up screwing up that knee too. So I guess just take it easy and don't rush it even if you can do stuff on your good knee. You'll just end up problems down the road. It sucks but really just let it heal and get em next year.

I remember reading somewhere that that is the reason you are supposed to land on both feet when you jump. Landing on one puts all of that pressure on ligaments that are meant to share the load, not bear all of it.

    Re: Knee Injury Question

When I tore the meniscus in my left leg I kept trying to be active too soon and it gave me problems for a year. With my right knee I stayed in bed as much as possible and it made a huge difference.

    Re: Knee Injury Question

Tore my ACL and had surgery in 1999. I have two suggestions.....

    1. When they did my knee, they cut out part of my hamstring to use as the replacement ligament. I am not sure, but I am almost certain that I had more pain as a result of the torn hamstring healing then I did that actual knee pain myself. Went a month before I was able to sleep because I hate taking pain pills so tried to deal with it using ibuprofen(sp). I know some use part of the knee cap tendon(peteler?) and some use cadaver ligaments, which seems kinda gross but I have heard there is not near as much pain. Man that sucked

    2. Follow the regimen spelled out by your PT and stick with it. I remember stretching out and it hurting like hell but did it anyway at home liked they told me to do. It took a while for the knee to work like it should but now the knee I had the surgery on is stronger then my 'healthy' knee. Don't push it too hard either.

I also had to get part of my meniscus removed because in the course of the injury(BB), part of my meniscus folded over on itself and pretty much shredded it.

    Good Luck.

    Re: Knee Injury Question

Don't rehab until you're allowed to, but when you are allowed to, take it very seriously. Don't overdo it, but stick very precisely to the regimine they give you.
