Does Highway 30 still alternate between 2 and 4 lanes from Cedar Rapids to Ames? I've heard that it is suppose to be going to all 4 lanes, but I haven't made the drive on highway 30 for about 4 years. Can someone enlighten me?

Still alternates. They are working to make 4 lanes, but as of last Thursday, nothing had changed.

While we're asking about construction updates, is the 'back way' up 17 open yet?
2 lane from Missouri Valley to Ogden (minus a little four lane through Carroll). 4 lane from Ogden to Colo. 2 lane from Colo to M-Town, then 4 from M-Town to Mesqwaki Casino. 2 lane to CR, 4 lane to Mt Vernon. Mt Vernon to Clinton 2 lane and a little 4 lane to the river.
I drive Highway 30 way too much for work, obviously.

according to this.
Ya'll think Highway 30 is bad between CR and Ames... you should check out Highway 30 out in Western Pennsylvania
In my opinion, Highway 30 West of Ames until you get to the Madrid Exit on Highway 17 is the worst stretch of road in the state! We need a road crew out there immediately.
Agreed, all the snow last winter really did a number on an already bad stretch of road. It's bad enough in a car, just think of the large trucks that have to go over it. Those guys have to be throwing up going over that. I can't believe nothing has been done about it yet.
