    Re: Droid Question

I've had the original Droid for about 10 months now... still love it.

If I were upgrading I would probably go with the X. Although the Samsung looks interesting.

On a related note, what are some sweet apps/games? There are so many to choose from...

I have the silicon case - a thin hard case might be ideal and shrink the size a bit.
Here's a question for those of you with swype, since I must be missing something:

How is that version of the keyboard better than the normal android one? From what I understand, you have to swype over every letter in the word you're typing, so how is that any faster than just hitting the letters, since you have to go to them anyway? Or is that not how it works

I would think if it needs to take a guess at what word you're going for, it would screw up quite a bit (due to it picking the wrong word or me not hitting the letters correctly)

Once you get used to it it is MUCH faster. It is quite accurate too.

Hard to explain this way. Take the word "TYPE." On a regular touchscreen, you'd hit it four times: t-y-p-e. But with swype, you'd take your index finger and just make a quick line starting at T, across the Y to the P, and straight back to E. swype knows you meant type. its crazy - its like the software starts reading your mind...

I like the X... Once you get used to the swype typing, it is much easier and faster than a flip out keyboard.

I agree - and in my opinion it makes up for the lack of physical keyboard. When I first got the DX I had a hard time trying to type like I would on a physical keyboard. Once I started using Swype I found it was actually easier and more accurate than trying to type the traditional way on the virtual keyboard.

Same for me. Love it. Only drawbacks so far are a smallish 2gb internal memory, but still an SD Micro slot, so no biggie, and the phone can freeze if you have it in a case every now and then.

Other than that, love everything about it. Wifi hotspot isn't too bad, handy in a pinch. Perfect phone size. Noticeably smaller than Droid X and thinner than Droid 2. Give it a look.

    Re: Droid Question

About a month ago I got a Droid X and my wife got a Droid 2. She got the droid 2 because she wanted a physical keyboard. After using swype on my X she now wishes she would have gotten an X. I've been happy with everything about the X besides the wait. It took me awhile to get it but they have the 2 in stock. My buddy has the incredible and it's nice as well. I don't believe swype is available on the Incredible though.

My husband and I each got Incredibles back in June, and we both love them. I wanted a physical keyboard, but have gotten used to having it all on-screen - the apps are just awesome. Battery life leaves a little to be desired.

Battery life is weak on nearly all these devices.

Battery life dropped significantly on my EVO after the 2.2 update.

I was in the habit of hitting the advanced task killer icon anytime I turned the screen off to kill anything that was running, but it looks like now the applications start right back up.

    Have the Incredible, love it.

This. Completely worth the $3. Also fun annoying my wife with Android Light Saber.

Just a question for those that also use the ESPNRadio and iHeart Radio apps - anyone else having problems with them recently? ESPNRadio cuts out on me every 20 seconds or so, and I can't get iHeart Radio to play at all.

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Swype is available on the Incredible. I had it for a while on mine but could never get used to it. I went with SwiftKey instead. Better prediction than the built-in keyboard.

    Re: Droid Question

Droid 2, didn't want a physical keyboard. Droid X, too big but darn cool. So I settled on the Droid Incredible after upgrading from the Droid Eris. Best phone I've ever had without a doubt.

ShapeWriter for Android is available for Droid users if you want the swipe typing. I highly recommend it. It's been bought and removed from the market, so you must go here. Get a bar scanner app and scan the QR code to get the app on the phone.
