I bet you never drank when you were uder age:yes:
I was in the B lots and never saw a cop they must have focused on the student lots I know Ames is looking for some more $ to spend
I will say that the student section is a lot more vocal and into the game than they were when I was a student 10 years ago.
I am not sure about the whole idea of drinking discretely and you won't get caught - the sherriff group watched our area from behind the porta-johns presumably watching the ones that were drinking "discretely" came out and wrote tickets. Now I get the idea that don't break the law and you won't get caught, but things have definitely changed from what I recall being a student, back then they would allow everyone to get drunk and then put on their riot gear to break up the result - maybe the new tactics are better, was just surpised is all.
just gonna throw this random fact out there. While Ames does receive money from tickets (speeding, MIPs, etc), the ISU police receive no money from any of the tickets that they write. All of their money goes to the Ames school district. so just think of your MIP or public intox ticket as a way of helping the children
I don't think any of us saying don't break the law if you don't want the consequences are saying you shouldn't go out there and drink. We're saying that it's the law, you know it's the law, you're knowingly breaking the law, so don't complain about it when you get caught. If I'm speeding and get pulled over for speeding, I'm not going to complain, because I knew I was speeding any way, regardless of what I thing the legal speed limit SHOULD be or the fact that everyone else around me was speeding as well.
We need more government regulating what we can't do:pbaffled:
The difference is I knew the consequences and kept myself away from police presence while doing so. Drink at home with friends, don't do it out in public when cops are wandering around. Seems pretty simple.
I am underage (until the 12th) that being said I am not going to lie...I drink big whoop. However I know the consequences if I get caught and I don't risk it...I like that money in my bank account and kind find a lot better things to use it on than paying off a ticket that I deserve. I just drink where I can get away with it such as my apartment and friends places along with parties and such where I feel comfortable doing so. Not trying to be on a high horse but plain and simple I don't feel sorry for those who do get caught and get punished you knew what you were getting yourself into.
At the UNI game, Pac-Blue (bike cops) rolled up and ID'ed a few of us standing in line for the toilets, one kid didn't have his ID and only looked to be in his lower 20's. The kid said he didn't bring it, but he swears he's 21 and just got an OWI. The cop let him go without anything. Lucky SOB.
My only complaint was the stupid rent a cops and their horrible traffic directing.
