For sure. Leno's numbers have been worse than Conan's absolute worst. Leno's credibility took a big hit from Tonight Show War II. How long can Leno keep his stuff up anyway? He lost his band leader and now no one likes him. And if he does retire in 5 years, who replaces him? NBC is screwed.
All Conan has to do now is get his worst ratings from the Tonight Show on his new show and he will be a king on cable... and TBS will be go straight to the bank.

Exactly. Conan pretty much took the high road on this deal and his fans have stuck with him while Leno was the "bad guy" and is losing viewers with, what seems like, a patchwork of his original show.
TBS made out like bandits on this deal. They were already apparently doing well with George Lopez' show (I have never watched that one but apparently it does well) and now they snagged Conan.

I remember as soon as Leno announced Conan was going to replace him, I told my wife it wouldn't work. I LOVED Conan, but knew that his style of humor was never going to work in the earlier 11:30 slot, and if I remember right, Letterman's numbers really picked up when the switch happened.

Yeah his style doesn't really appeal to the old geezer demographic and I think a lot of them switched to Letterman. I still think they would have been better off sticking with it because like CyforPres said, Leno's numbers are worse than Conan's worst ever were and they have pretty much backed themselves in a corner for the time when Leno does call it quits
