Protein drinks
So, about a month ago I quit eating meat. After about two weeks I started feeling really weak and tired. I realized, I didn't even consider the nutrients I'd be losing by giving up meat. I found a multivitamin that replaces pretty much everything I'd lose, except for protein. I still eat fish, and try to eat a lot of peanut butter and nuts to make up for it, but it's not enough for a regular diet. I couldn't find a protein pill, so bought powdered drink mix. I bought a generic brand and it was nasty, so I bought a namebrand (EAS) and...it was nasty. Does anyone know if they make a pill for protein? Or maybe even a drink mix that isn't disgusting?

MuscleMilk will cost you a bit, but taste great! Try mixing different beans and rice and throw in different types of nuts to fill not just your protein needs, but what your really lacking is your BCAA-NEAA-EAA's (mostly your essential amino acids-EAA).

Re: Protein drinks
Try American Whey. I get the chocolate flavor from Nutrishop. It's really good for a protein powder.

Re: Protein drinks
I find the ready to drink (RTD) or premixed ones to taste much better. You can pick them up at costco or sam's club. I prefer the muscle milk chocolate myself.
The downside is that per serving, they are much more expensive. I also think the muscle milk powder is really good and they have a ton of flavors, so you might try those as well.

Re: Protein drinks
The EAS is about 17 dollars, and I have to drink at least two glasses per day. It equates to about a week worth of drink. How much more would Muscle Milk be? Also, could protein bars be a cheaper alternative?

I like Optimum 100 pct whey, and it isn't a meal replacement either so you're not loading up on carbs/calories/fat. Comes in a variety of flavors, but obviously you need to stick to stuff like chocolate and vanilla. I've tried, and thought the following were good; cake batter, chocolate malt, cookies and cream, double chocolate, vanilla ice cream. I've never tried but have heard tropical punch is decent. Banana Cream and Strawberry are horrible. Actually.. I have yet to actually find a decent tasting strawberry in any brand of protein..

I have never bought the red meat is bad for you or any of that stuff. If your smart and don't make it your entire diet you will be fine.

I drink Optimum Nutrition stuff too and its some of the better tasting protein out there. I actually like the strawberry though and of course the chocolate
Another thing you could try is instead of mixing the protein with just water, mix it in with milk, or mix it with some milk, yogurt, banana, peanut butter etc and put it in a blender to mix it up. You can make your own protein smoothie.
