    Re: Favorite local radio station?

For actual music, I listen to 105.1. I don't listen a ton, so the repeats don't really get old for me. Like the newer stuff and love the grunge-era stuff mixed in. But most times, I am switching back and forth between 1460 and 1700. Usually at least one of those two isn't on a "bash the Clones" day and I can listen for awhile.

    Re: Favorite local radio station?

    My ipod/cd collection.

If I'm listening to the radio though, it's probably 105.1, although that's difficult to pick up in Des Moines for some reason. I'll default to KGGO, although after working in a factory in college that played KGGO all day, I can practically predict what's coming. I swear they play "Momma I'm Coming Home" by Ozzy every day between 1-2PM, and that might be the worst song of all time. Plus, they play the Aerosmith cover of "Come Together" rather than the Beatles original.

I've always said that you can tell the difference between an average classic rock station and a really good by whether or not they play the Aerosmith version of that song, or the Beatles version. The only station in Iowa that I've heard play the Beatles rather than Aerosmith is 103.7 out of Mason City, which is a great station. North Iowa, you're rocking with The Fox.

100.7 over here in Eastern Iowa is real solid.

In the morning I listen to Lazer or KGGO. also listen to the bus, and avoid 105.1 and 107.5 like the plague. awful music on those station's

    Re: Favorite local radio station?

I really don't listen to much music on regular radio. I am pretty addicted to my XM radio. Highly recommend it.

When I do listen to local radio, I have kind of learned to like 100.3. I'll turn on KXNO until someone says something that ticks me off---usually around 10 minutes or so.

Isn't that "The Fox"? If so, yes that's a very solid station! Its better than anything in Central Iowa. KGGO has gone downhill.

I'd usually go with 105.1 because they occasionally play some indie stuff, but the play rotation has been this for the last year and a half:

    1. something by Kings of Leon (but not the old, better stuff - just the most recent album)
    2. something by Foo Fighters
    3. recent song #1 (right now, "Animal" by Screaming Trees)
    4. recent song #2 (right now, that "Lay Me Down" song)
    5. something from the 90s

    (Repeat ad nauseum)

    What are your votes?
Huh the only song I can think of by them is Nearly Lost You..

XM Radio for the past 5 years!!!

When in central Iowa 105.1, over here in eastern rock 108, 105.1 is so much better tho.

    Re: Favorite local radio station?

I had XM until they axed my favorite two stations (Special X and The Torch) and even then I held on to it for a while longer until the Sirius merge.

Here in eastern Iowa I usually listen to sports or non-political talk. I listen to 1650/1600/800 for the former and 600 (when they are doing local talk)/720 WGN for the latter.

When driving with my wife or longer drives by myself, I usually just listen to my iPod (~6700 songs on it).

    88.5 KURE.

Gotta support the student station plus, I DJ for them. Don't really like half the music, but I'm certain to not be annoyed by most of it. I like that the people on it typically care about what they play, and there are no obnoxious ads.
