OT: How to order FCS DirecTV

I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with a guy who kept telling me that channel 623 was not a channel and then changed his mind and said I already got it. I don't get it and unless Cyclones.com is lying that's the channel the game is on today. How the heck do I tell this guy that I want this freaking station so he understands?

Just buy the Sports Pack. You should be able to do it on their website and avoid human contact

I had the same problem last year before the K-state game. The people who answer the phones there are worthless. You want the sports pack, you can order it online or call them and tell them that. The benefit to calling is you can work the price down, I got it free for 3 months and a buddy got it for $4 a month.

Directv.com won't let me add the sports pack unless I change my package and pay a lot more money, or lose channels I already get...

Is that all I have to say? "I want the sports pack". Because at this point DTV might as well save some money and ship all these jobs overseas because apparently there is already a language barrier. I'm talking to another person now who just has no idea.

Oh. The phone would work, then.

I know a friend of mine was able to get it without having anything past the most basic package, but he ordered over the phone.

Just went online and checked out the channel listings for the Sports Pack on Direct TV. It doesn't list FCS as a channel and it costs $12.99. What gives?

FCS is not a full-time channel on directv, it is only on when there are football games being aired.

That's why I couldn't order online. It told me I had to upgrade my total package.

I've never ordered it myself, so what I know is anecdotal evidence I've seen from prior threads here and elsewhere on the web, but...

FCS is definitely one of the channels in DirecTV's Sports Pack. For whatever reason DirecTV's online listings don't include it, and their phone operators usually don't even know that it's included, but it is. Just order the Sports Pack and you will get FCS.

$12.99 is the standard price for the Sports Pack when you order it online. Apparently some people who make a phone call to get it are getting it for less. It seems to depend on who you talk to and how good you are at negotiating.

The best option is to call.

1. You can get it at a discounted price, especially if you have been a DTV customer for awhile and have continued to pay you bill on time.

2. They can send the signal to your dish while you are on the phone with them. Just gives me the security of knowing I will have it in minutes, as opposed just sitting around waiting.

Give it a call. We paid for the last game that was on FCS and then called to cancel and they gave us a deal of 3 months for 3.99 each month.

Just call and ask for the Sports pack. The channel will show up when it gets closer to game time.

I don't understand how all of this works. I don't have the Sports Pack, but have been able to watch every game that's been on this year. I have 623 availalbe right now. It just says "Upcoming: Iowa State @ Colorado".

Are you sure you have that channel available or are you just able to see it in the guide?

Well if you have just recently bought Directv and are on a deal where you get all channels for ex # of months it would be different. Also if you have NFL Sunday Ticket or one of their other Premium Sports Packages you may have gotten all the channels for 5-6 months or so.
