Is the meningitis vaccine mandatory at ISU? Or just recommended? Neither?

I know a lot of hospitals and clinics make kids get the shot when they would go in for a physical but I don't know if ISU requires it.

I think it was recommended at Iowa as well. My parents made me get it though, before my freshman year.

I think it is mandatory if your a freshman moving into the dorms, but other than that I think it is just recommended. Not 100 percent positive but I think thats what it is.

It was required for me in 1999 when I was a freshman moving into the dorms.

Pretty sure that is the policy on it. All I know is that I had to get it when I came here 4 years ago and I was living in the dorms.

I moved into the dorms in 06 and it was not mandatory, just recommended... However after last years student passed away from it I went and got it right away

It is strongly recommended. You either have to have it or sign a waiver. This was the way at ISU in 2005 when I was moving into the dorms and at Virginia Tech this fall when I was enrolling as a graduate student living off campus.

Bad thing is, it was reported that he had the shot too.
