Weather this weekend (12/11)?
Seeing some reports about substantial snow in the forecast... any METEOR or "in the know" folks care to comment and discuss?

It's just kind of wait and see right now. I have a good feeling most of the state will see a good amount of snow but it all depends on the track. Winds may also create blizzard like conditions.

Re: Weather this weekend (12/11)?
If you want a major winter storm/blizzard, the 12Z GFS model run was for you. At hour 120, early Sunday, it has a monstor storm centered around Chicago that would produce a Blizzard in Wisconsin and probably NE Iowa.
If you want moderate snow and less wind, the 12Z Euro model run is for you. The difference with this one is the monster storm is centered much further south but would still give Iowa a lot of moderate snow and strong winds (but not a blizzard). If precip breaks out earlier on Saturday, the temperature profiles indicate a very cold rain or freezing rain for Central Iowa and points South and East... It will quickly change to snow by evening.
Regardless, Iowa is going to see snow by the end and wind .... and MUCH COLDER weather...

A blizzard on Sunday? Well, if I didn't know better I would think we have a home basketball game on Sunday as well... oh wait...
Crappy weather and home basketball games go hand in hand for ISU.
