Ill never forget the kid from Grundy Center throwing one down on us in 7th grade.
I think I could almost touch the net then.
He's probably going to be a good player, sure. Since when though, is it impressive for someone whos 6'3 and prolly 130 pounds to dunk? Particularly on a bunch of kids that are more like regular non D1 middle schoolers?
Wow! Seems athletic at 6'3" too. I figured a kid that grew that fast would be as goofy as it gets.
I assume you graduated sometime around 2000? He could dunk better in junior high than he could in high school. Let early success get to his head a little bit. I was a year older than him and played high school bball with him, he was a good player but could have been so much better if he had worked hard. Where did you go to school?
Grew up around there also...GC had a good run in the early to mid 90's also.
With the size of the other kids in that video, I was picturing Charlie from Always Sunny the entire time. I am pretty sure the chubby kid was wearing steel toed boots and another kid had a safety pin in his wrist band.
When I was in 7th grade I might have been 5'
Get Hoiberg on the phone
I dunked in a game in eighth grade (I was 6'4") but let me tell you it looked nothing like this one did. Mine was more of a barely get the ball over the hoop but grab the rim to make it look better, all in all it was pretty ugly and not sure it would even qualify as a dunk with today's standards.
This isn't anything that revolutionary, IMO. He certainly isn't the first and won't be the last 7th grader to dunk. Hoiberg shattered a backboard as an 8th grader.
