That happens a lot, but sometimes it doesn't (see Mediacom/KDSM a few years ago).

That said, I wouldn't miss KCCI that much. Only thing I watch KCCI for is NFL football, and I can use my antenna for the playoff games they'll have after Jan. 1. I'd bet the longest they'll be gone--if at all--is a few weeks.

This is a similar thing that happened here in Lincoln, NE for the ABC affiliate and Time Warner Cable. The ABC affiliate deadline came and went so they pulled their feed. We were without the station for 3 weeks before the contract got worked out. In the end it wasn't too bad since TWC still carried the ABC affiliate out of Omaha too.
