There isn't a better available coach, and you bet your *** he'd love to **** Tech once a year. If CPR is out of our price range, than Mike Leech sure as hell is too. I'd love to have him in Ames, but he's a pretty high profile guy with a ton of national success.
This whole situation makes me nervous. Any other team in the country and this rumor would be dead, but at ISU these things actually happen, no matter how crazy and stupid.

Re: Pitt Offers Rhoads?
We are a Big 12 school. We're also a stepping stone school. IMHO, those clash, but it's true in our case. I hope we can find funds and designate them firstly to keeping our FB staff in place. Hell, forget the new videoboard and PAY THIS GUY if that's what it takes. Those things can wait, this cannot.

If it helps, my connection who gave me the Chizik scoop has nothing on CPR. If I don't hear a statement from him or Pollard that CPR is staying at ISU by Monday night, I start to worry.

Actually, since the poster says he has until 6pm today (sunday) to decide, if we dont hear anything by monday morning i'll feel alright.
Tomorrow afternoon however...

Tomorrow afternoon however... The truth of the matter is, like it or not, we are ISU and this will always be the case with us - our coaches, if successful, will always have opportunities elsewhere. Might as well deal with it, and learn to live with it, because it's not changing anytime soon.

Re: Pitt Offers Rhoads?
Not sure what can be believed on here, and not sure if I can do anything personally - but instead of sitting back, lets do something about it.
Not sure if this helps, but send an email to JP - raise your donation. Send an email about support.
I would start by throwing a donation out there - don't have much but every little bit matters. I'm only 21 but could not afford to see another devastating blow to our program.
I'm sure GG and JP are doing everything possible here, but they need our help and support. JP's job is on the line with this.

Re: Pitt Offers Rhoads?
I don't think JP's job is on the line at all. Guess what, he keeps hiring coaches other schools want. He's doing his job getting them here, everyone knows we have massive budget constraints. This is obviously only applicable if Rhoads heads to Pitt. Chizik was once so we can call it a fluke. If it happens again now, its not a fluke.

I'm going to go on record as saying that Rhoads will absolutely be our coach next year. I have no inside information whatsoever, but I do believe myself to be an excellent judge of character.

Re: Pitt Offers Rhoads?
From the Post-Gazette: One other person whose name has been mentioned as a possible candidate is second-year Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads, a former Pitt assistant and a person who Pederson likes and respects, but a source close to Rhoads said the Iowa native has made it clear that he isn't interested in the job because he is happy at Iowa and doesn't want to uproot his family again.

Thanks for the link - in a way it would be good to have CPR name connected to this job and have him dismiss it completely; may help keep people away in the future.

The more people say this, the more worried I get given that chizik thread's stellar predictions. I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -

Re: Pitt Offers Rhoads?
I will feel the same way about this as JP did when Chizik was considering taking the Auburn job. JP told Chizik that if he was the man he thought he was when he hired him, then he wouldn't take the job.
That would be my feelings towards Rhoads as well. If he's the kind of person that I believe he is, and that he sells to the public, then he wouldn't do this to JP, ISU, his players, and his fans.
I wouldn't blame him if he took it because it is a MUCH better job (don't kid yourselves), but it would mean that he's just another greedy, slimy head coach like Gene Chizik.... and I don't think Paul Rhoads is that kind of guy?
But... we are ISU.. so NOTHING would surprise me. We cannot compete financially enough to be in the Big 12. JP is stuck. He cannot bankrupt his department. I'm actually surprised JP is still here. It has to be one of the hardest AD jobs in the entire country. Try to compete with teams that bring in 10 times as much as you do, with facilities that are 10 times better too. It's nearly impossible.
