Mr. Beer?
Anyone get one of these and try it out? I got the kit for Christmas, and I'm currently brewing some Golden Lager. Found out that my closet is the perfect temperature to let my beer ferment.

Re: Mr. Beer?
So will you actually lager your beer?
What all is involved in the process? Do you go through a boil?

Re: Mr. Beer?
We messed with one in college, and never got good results. More than likely user error tho

Re: Mr. Beer?
Follow the cleaning and sanitizing instructions to a "t" (or even beyond) and it will
Work fine.

I followed the cleaning instructions so hopefully everything comes out O.K.
One thing that I thought was funny about boiling the liquid they gave me was that it made my apartment smell like sweet potatoes.

Re: Mr. Beer?
Lagering is where you cool the fermenter down to almost freezing to help clarify the beer.
Never played around with a Mr. Beer. I use 5 gallon bucket and bottles for my beer.

Re: Mr. Beer?
I didn't lager it then, but since it's my first beer I'm just trying to get something that doesnt taste like ****.

Re: Mr. Beer?
Hope it turns out well. Good luck.

Thanks, I hope it does as well.

Re: Mr. Beer?
There are primarily two different types of beer...ales and lagers. Ales ferment with top feeding yeast around 60-70 degrees, and lagers ferment with bottom feeding yeast at cooler temperatures anywhere from 40-55 or 60.

Re: Mr. Beer?
All I know is that it told me to ferment at about 70 F. -

Re: Mr. Beer?
I got a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas as well and currently have a pale ale fermenting. I'm pretty excited and might have a hard time being patient enough to wait a month until I can drink it.

Re: Mr. Beer?
Try to forget it's there, I know what you are talking about though.

Please let CF know when you want us over for sample time.
I think I am actually going to get one too. I heard they were at Bed Bath & Beyond (insert Old School joke here) for like $30 or $35.
